After some disastorous results playing PL 7 stud, i thought i did give myself an easy night and just play some £1/£2 6 handed LHE...
situation i found myself in a couple of times is this:
early position i get a pretty good hand (JJ, QQ, AK, AQ) and raise, MP calls two bets, button raises, BB calls two bets. Play is pretty loose and i suspect i probably have the best hand, but do i gain anything by reraising? MP has already shown a willingness to call two bets, and has better odds to do so now than before, certainly no one else is going to fold.
Is it better to just call, and see how the flop looks...or is there a good reason to cap the betting? does capping just give ppl better (correct) odds to chase straight and flush draws?

When to Cap preflop
I love him who is ashamed when the dice fall in his favour and who then asks: Am I then a cheat? for he wants to perish.

Equity Equity Equity. MAke them pay to play their inferior hands. Right now, PF your hands is the favorite to win, get your money while you can. Then, you need to evaluate the flop and seew here you lie... remember majority of hte time, you like flops with this type of action, or at least you like it enough to make capping +EV.
In these 6 handed games (and I bow to the SH limit gurus here) These hands are 90% the best hand, so cap it.Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.

Okay, just to make sure i understand the concept...to use an example from on the the hands i played:
I have

UTG folds
I raise
MP calls (with unknown hand)
button raises (with
)
SB folds
BB calls (with
)
I call
MP calls
flop comes

BB bets
I call
MP folds
button raises
BB raises
I fold
i figured i saved myself one bet with the preflop call, but considering equity and the fact i was c. 50% to win preflop against A8x2 and another hand (Kx probably), that sort of play thoertically costs me bets in the long run?
how many bets does it cost? there would be 4 more bets in the pot if i raised (1 mine, 3 from others), and i could expect to win 50%...do you calculate it as 50% of all 4 bets, 50% of the 3 bets from other players, or 50% of the 3 bets from others minus my bet...I love him who is ashamed when the dice fall in his favour and who then asks: Am I then a cheat? for he wants to perish.

With AA and KK - cap as often as you can. QQ - most of the time and with JJ or TT just call any re-raises as there is a chance you're up against a bigger pp. Marm is correct and most Limit books advocate getting the equity in pre-flop but JJ or less get tromped so often, I want to see the flop and am willing to sacrifice the small bet.
Of course, there are the optimistics like I had earlier today when I came in from EP1 with JJ, a raise, and a tight table image and LP1 re-raised. I just called the 3x along with the BB. Flop came up 9-9-6 and we capped the flop round - BB folded. I figure he has my J-J beat but with no over card on the turn or river I call him down. He shows 7-7 and I win. I couldn't believe he capped the betting on the flop round! He says 'nh, I figured u had me'! No sh*t, eh? lol
