Tommorrow i'm playing in a live charity tounry and i just wanted to run a few things by you guys(its a weird strcuture)... Its a live NL holdem tounry with a 30 dollar buy in, with unlimited 15 dollar rebuy's within the first hour, but on the advertisement there is no mention to the amount of chips needed to rebuy. For your 30$ you start out with 400 in chips with the blinds starting 5/10. (First of all i think the blinds are insane cause its putting pressure on everyone right away). The blinds go up every 30 min which equals about 15-18 hands being played for every increment, which means hitting early hands will be crucial. For me though i know i'll be up agaisnt the tighty, weak players who will buy in and lose there 400 and rebuy once and then call it quits after they loose that. What i plan to do is rebuy at the beginning twice(each time you get 400) so that i'll have 1200 starting in chips(which is a more reasonable for starting with those blinds). This allows me to buy an early chip lead(3X what everyone else had) and start pounding on everyone stack right away. Everytime i come in pf i'm raising 100 at least. Obviously creating a shit storm of throwing ppl off their game and making them commit 1/4 of their stack everytime they want to see a flop with me. I'll update how it all turns out tomorrow, hopefully i'll be 500 richer tomorrow.

I used to play in a similar tourny format...with $10 buy-in and no rebuys. We started with 500 in chips and blinds went up every 30min (or 15 if people were willing to dump more money). When I first started, I thought it was a luck only game, but after the first 5-6, I saw the same guy winning...I read a book and started playing more online and him and I started trading wins. I was very loose and would see almost any hand for just a limp (in the first few rounds). I played basically fit or fold style after the flop.
I also found that reads became very important in those tournys because people were forced to play far quicker then they might otherwise. Looking back, I think you're style would probably be more effective coupled with a serious attention to detail when not in a hand...you shouldn't have any problem wiping up.Trons
