I was thinking about this yesterday and I really want to know your advice on this. I'm in a shorthanded ring game. I'm a loose aggressive player... I think! I have a good hand such has AK, AQ or a mid/high pocket pair on the button and everyone fold to me. How much I raise? I usually open between 2BB to 4BB in other positions. But I think that this situation is different 'cause of my position and 'cause of the number of players on the table. I don't want to make my opponent to put me on a good hand so I normally raise 2BB but in a long term my opponent will understand my betting pattern. Limp? Ya... it could be an option if there is a loose player to my right that I know that gonna open so I'll be able to call it or raise it. But when I have a weak tight and a tight aggressive player to my left... what I do?

Raise and let them think you are on a steal, you cant let hands in cheaply or your going to get hit by rags in the BB.
A good education is expensive but ignorance costs more.

I havent even read your post before my 1st reply...

Never Limp on the button when the blinds are isolated... but with a monster hand.
Also never minimum raise in any postion... It cant thin the field, and it wont really build the pot... no reason to do that.
that said... I would say with AK or AQ you can do anything form raising 3BB to 10BB... dosent mather.
But, you have to do the same when you are on a steal.
In this situation, you have to act the way your opponent wont be able to read you...

With AK or AQ 'standard' bets are 3-5xBB (from any position) but 6-8x are sometimes used at looser tables. These hands are great starting hands but unless suited or you hit a great str8 flop, they are very vunerable to multi-way pots so you want to thin the field as much as possible. From the button there is less chance of thinning - except for the blinds - but if your raise is large enough, you should fold a few limpers and 4-5x is usually enough to clear out the more trashy hands. Getting H2H or only 2 opps is your prefered scenareo with these hands.
Minimum raises - sometimes called pot sweeteners - are cute but too damn weak to protect a good starting hand and more often sweeten the pot for the opps than yourself if too many of them come in. AK or AQ come around seldom enough so get top value while protecting them - minimum bet 3xBB, 4x usually and 5-6x if in early position with a lot of loose callers.
