Default Play tourney - the wrong time to make a move?

Well basically was playing a play tourney at Pokerstars...

.. I just think my timing to push on the river was bad.

The fact that he bet constantly threw me a bit, but I really should of known something was up? Or should have I?

You screwed up long before the river. How on earth are you calling his bet PF? Then how are you calling his bet after the flop? You have pocket 5's.....the PF raiser is betting again and you are facing 2 overcards...one of which is an Ace...one of the most likely holdings of your opponents to justify his 5XBB PF raise.

You did not belong in this hand at all.

    Um, wow.

Pre flop: Calling a 4xBB bet with a small pair is a mistake.
Flop: Calling a bet wtih two overs on the board is a mistake, epecially when one of them is a A (some people NEVER fold aces). Riase or fold.
Turn: Calling a bet is even a bigger mistake here - the first guy has to figure you if you didn't fold last time you're not going to his time, so it's not a bluff. If you think you have the best hand raise.
River: Yeah, you hit your trips but now there is a possible flush out there. No hand you can beat is going to call your all-in. Just call or make a small raise.
I'm CDO. It's like OCD, but everying is in order just like it should be.

It was an incredibly bad move... especially at this late stage of the tournament and with that hand... I just acted TOO PASSIVELY... It happens a lot at late stages in tourneys.

.. I really need to cut these mistakes out in order to make myself a better player - its merely discipline.

    Passivity isn't your problem here.

Preflop it is 1000 to call. Even if you HIT your set, at 8-1 odds, you barely have enough chips to justify the call on implied odds! This is a weak call here... with shortish stacks, you can't play speculative hands.

On the flop is even worse. You're only getting 5-1 pot odds here. You can ONLY call here if you think you have the best hand... you're over 20-1 to hit trips on the next card, and your implied odds have shrunk even more. In order for you to have the best hand, he has to have two unpaired high cards that justified a raise preflop and DONT include an Ace. So out of all the hands he could have ONLY KQ justifies continuing to play... and there you should be raising to keep him from drawing out on you since he has 6 outs (more if they're suited).

The turn you HAVE to call because you called the flop bet and your odds are better... but it's still a terrible call for the same reasons as the flop play was.

The river all of a sudden you do beat some of his possible holdings... but I don't know that he calls there with AK. You hit a big hand though... so why bet so large? You're screaming slow-play (not true, but that's what it looks like)... make a bet he can easily call without the nuts.
-You may not know this, but poker is a game of incomplete information.

    You should have folded preflop.

Being passive wasn't the problem. Over valuing a low pocket pair was the problem.

two players call and third raises 5xbb. Calling, FLAT CAlling, JUST CALLING, is absolutly an awful play. what if EP was limping with a monster? and throws in a reraise? This is called a sandwitch, your calling a bunch of chips and are left defenseless. Furthurmore 55in a possible 4 way pot is fairly weak. I didnt even look at the flop, but im guessing u made more mistakes.
I get more ass than a toilet seat. All shapes/colors/sizes.
