This guy was the definition of a calling station, the 5 didn't really seem like a scary card here, figured he could easily have 8s and 5s I'd seen him do this before hitting 2 pair

Even worse then the other hand. Your fish has a set here 90% of the time, and the other 10% is just the law that everyone bluffs SOMETIMES

Against someone I have pegged as a very weak player, I lay this down to the raise on the turn.-You may not know this, but poker is a game of incomplete information.

i think you played this perfectly. some looser opponents i will bet/call river but yeah him capping the turn means set++

I agree. Everything is going perfect until he caps the turn, then I agree it is 80%-90% he is on a set. But you have outs to call the single cap bet on the turn, and then I don't see folding to a single river bet with this pot size. Well played, bad luck.

Just wanted to add that since this is 4 handed, there is some chance he has something like AA or AK and just limped preflop, and then seeing that rainbow board decided to put the hammer down on the turn. The pot size is big enough that this possibility is worth the river call, it is 10.5 BB so you only have to be good here <10% to make calling the river mandetory. You played it well.

He did turn up 22, and I lost a fair number of bets on the turn though I still thought I played the hand as well as I could. I feel if I had just called his turn raise that I would be leaving money on the table long run.
