Default SnG JJ hand with an overcard on the flop.

this is a hand early into an $5 SnG so i have no reads.

didn't know whether to bet flop.

sometimes in this situation i will check and assume they do not have a King if they check behind. if they do check behind i would then value bet the turn.

re reading this hand i think i should bet the river also

Early on in the SNG's, I only play pairs below QQ for their set value. Out of position here, I'd check/fold, not enough $ to duke it out over.

I would have re-raised preflop with this hand. You should have bet the flop to see where you stand. He would probably fold so you made more money by checking but if he hit his ace on the turn your in trouble. The bet on the turn was good but you should have bet again on the river.

Again you made more money than I think I probably would have.

Can't reraise this PF, You won't like any action other than him folding, and most of the time, they will play along. ANd you need to check this flop, but bet about 150 on the turn.... Otherwise, you need to get out of this hand as cheaply as possible.
Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.

I like to play tight early, but not as tight as Jason is recommending here. I would have raise pre-flop and bet out into the flop. I need to define right here if My Jacks are good. 1/2 pot is about right. He probly folds. When you checked the flop and bet the turn he had to assume you had nothing so he makes a reasonable call.

I find that, more times than not, betting onto one overcard will often win me the pot right then and their...if not I know I am beat and dont commit any more chips.

Remember, to break even a 1/2 pot bet only has to win 1 time out of 3. I find opponents typically fold here 2 out of 3 times. This has alway been a very profitable spot for me. I am actually hoping he either raises or folds. A call will lead me with a tough decision if he bets out and gives me reasonable odds after the turn.

No kidding, what rock garden are you hellmuth wannabe's playing in.

PF - call or reraise, I like to reraise usually but whatever. I dont even mind pushing, you will get called by a lot of smaller pairs and AJ - enough stuff you have dominated.

Flop, well, this is why I don't like just calling, but you only have one over card and the right of first bluff. I may kick out 150-180 here.
But since you called, I think you played it ok, what is gonna call you on the river you can beat if you bet? If you check he may try a bluff you feel you can call.

You'd never heard of it before? It's a pretty awesome concept, at least to me it is.
