I basically lose all my money in ring games, but I do well in low buy-in SnG/large tourny.
Why?

The difference between ring and tournament games?

Well first do a search on your topic... we have had numerous discussions on this, but in short, the nature of Cash is exploiting as much EV Now as possible, but tournaments you can sacrifice small amounts of EV now for larger EV gains in the future....

I'm exactly like this too. I think it has something to do with being able to take advantage of stack size and survival better, as well as tilt being less of a factor (since tilt doesn't seem to affect tourney/sng play nearly as much as in ring)

Mainly because if somehting puts you on tilt it probaly has already knocked you out of the tournament so your not going to lose more, atleast thats my theory

I think you can be successful in a tourney with a ring strategy, but if you play ring with a tourney strategy you're going to lose big style

tourneys are geared toward calculated risk takers, cash games favor a disciplined player

I disagree with that statement. I think one has to be very disciplined in order to win a tourney. I think a discipline player will know what risks will benefit him, thus a disciplined player is also a risk taker. Sure, people will make much bolder plays in tourneys, but it fits in with the style of play. I don't think you can make a generalized statement like that, and I don't think you can split the issue of ring vs. tourney that easily.

I think this is true.

I think that bigger MTTs and ring games are more similar though.
