This wasn't my 1st hand at the table I was just sitting out for a while, the table was actually fairly good.

MP1 waking up after calling 2 bets cold on the flop is what worried me alot in this hand, I would have re-raised but the I was 2 bet by MP3. At this point I felt I was way behind, to either a set or a straight. I certainly didn't have odds to call hoping to hit my boat so I tossed the hand.
Essentially was folding here the right play?

I wouldn't fold this hand, I would raise and see what he would do. He was obviously bluffing this hand, so he would have folded.

You can't make this laydown on the turn in a limit game. MP1 probably figured you had a marginal hand like 8x since you posted and raised the first bettor, trying to shut everyone out. He knows when you raise on this board on the flop that YOU don't have a set or straight. He might have an overpair like 99, maybe was cold calling with a hand like AQ, he could be a shitty player and have Q7 and cold called with his open ended straight draw and is now betting with top pair.
At any rate, you have two pair, no one else is likely to have two pair, most players raise QQ preflop, most won't call preflop with 79, so the only logical hands you fear are 55 66 88 and you have two of those cards.
Sure, you MIGHT be behind but I reraise. There is already 7.5 BB in the pot. That is worth fighting for, and you do have outs against some of those hands. even if they are out there.
edit: If MP1 had a monster like 55 66 88 he certainly wouldn't have bet out on the turn. You have MP1 beat no doubt. He probably cold called the flop with two overcards like KQ.Last edited by growlers; 11-27-2005 at 03:42 PM.

Thanks for the insight Growlers, I just kinda felt I was in a bad place in this hand. When people do weird things like cold-call on the flop and bet out on the turn I get confused, especially when there the play gets multi-way to the Turn.

It turns out I would have lost anyway, MP1 had Q8 and MP3 had 47, but that isn't the point.

Which one - MP1 or MP3? The odds both are bluffing just doesn't compute! One might fold but not both!

i don't see how you can be afraid of a straight. if you ask me those two players were either semi-bluffing or had overcards and were scared of straight possibilities.
it's a limit game. you wouldn't have lost much by staying in the hand.
