I have been experimenting with some different strategies in O8b, especially trying to play more aggressively especially on the flop, when people tend to pay alot to chase longshots.
Anyway I was curious if everyone rams the pot with the nuts high and a reasonable low when the board is presenting potential doom with over 1/2 the deck on the river.
Here is an example of what I am talking about
Party Poker (9 handed) 1/2 O8b
Preflop: Hero is BB with,
,
,
.
3 callers, button raises, hero calls, the limpers all call.
Alot of raising and big pots at this table, actually it was an extremely good one, normally I play alot tighter probably a semi-loose call here.
Flop:,
,
(5 players)
Hero checks, 3 checks , Button raises, Hero calls, 3 calls
big pot brewing, had nut outs to both high and low
Turn:(4 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets, 2 calls, button raises, Hero 3 bets, UTG caps, 2 folds, button calls.
At this point I have the nuts high and the 2nd best low, however I certainly dont want the board to pair, any diamond or any heart also is really bad here. I was thinking about this hand and this position afterwards and there are very few clean cards that could come.
So is jamming here the best play? should jamming be done everytime?

I like the turn play. However I hate the flop check call.
You have a great opportunity to get an A3 or 23 or two pair or Jack high flush fraw to fold if you raise. You checked to see what happened and it was checked around to the button who could just be betting anything. You xhould be looking to trim this field down since your hand will play very well heads up but there are a lot of cards you don't want to see if a lot of people are in the pot.Read my musings on poker and life at Online Poker Examiner, Poker Examiner, PokerNewsBoy.com, and My Poker Blog
