PF: *WHACK* hit you with a 2x4 for that raise, make it 300-400 to go if you want to bet small.
Flop: *WHACK* CHECK??? With a striahgt and flush draw out there, and that is an action flop, sorta, you need to bet 750-1000 here.
Turn: *WHACK* There you go min betting again. Bet this bitch.
River: *WHACK* I'm not raising this here. too many hands beat you here, and this guy just woke up, I'm thinking hes got a set or a pat 5 card hand. At best you call this overbet.
You let this guy into the pot with your weak ass betting, You Don't slowplay aces after you get decent PF action. You want to end this on the flop if you can.

Ditto Marm.
Although my read on what he had was way off. IMO the opponent was just as bad as your brother for playing this hand PF the way he did.

I've made some stupid plays, but this isn't my stupid play. I'm sure I'll have plenty of my own questionable plays to post. too bad you cant convert DoylesRoom hands.

I won't repeat Marm's advice, which you should follow.
On the river, it's obvious the guy has made a huge hand. That bet is either an outrageous bluff, or he's got a set or better (believe it or not, I really thought he had the 54). All you've got on the end is a pair of aces, which is a medium strength hand at best against this board and action. This is not a raising hand here, as you're only going to get a call if you're beat (which it seems pretty obvious you are).
I probably fold on the river about 50% of the time. The other 50% . . . well, let's just say we all get sucked in by the bright light every now and again. But laying this hand down is pretty easy given your position in the tourney and the fact that you're not pot committed.
Pitch, punt, and survive.

Raise to 3-400 preflop.
If he reraises pop it to like 10-1200. 3/4-pot on flop.
You have so this card isn't thaaaaaat scary. 1/2-3/4 pot. Folding to a checkraise if its a big bet
Very small cutesy bet on river seems good. I don't want to bet another 1000 when he could be getting tricky or something. An arguement could be made for checking behind.
