I've accidently entered a limit Oh/l tourney and have no idea how to play the game. basically, main questions are:
What are good starting hand types?
Can you use different cards for the high and the low (from your hand)
at what point should you get agressive? Basically, 2pair is great, don't get excited till you have a str8...
Any other information and suggestions (other then paying attention to which tournaments you enter).

I don't know much about this game when it applies to tournaments. But as a general outlook on the game here you go.
You may use different cards for the high hand and the low hand. To make a low, you must use 5 cards that are 8 or below. Always 2 from your hand and 3 off the board. There are times where no low hand will qualify.
Here is an example of a hand:
You hold

Board reads:

Notice that your high hand is a full house, 5s over 8s. You use the two 5s from your hole cards. For the low, you use the Ace and the 2, making a 5432A low, which is the best low possible. The high pot and low pot are separate, although you can win both at the end of the hand, like you most likely would have in my example.
As far as strategy goes, I always like mid-range suited connectors with A2 or A3 as backup for the low. Two pair is not a very powerful hand since omaha is very draw-heavy. Straights are powerful but make sure you have the nut straight. Avoid hands like A5JJ that might be appealing due to the high pocket pair. Your hand must have great high potential, but also have the low backup.
If you want, tell me what site you are playing on and I'll watch and you can join me in the chat. I'm not good at the game, but I can try to help. You'd need Steve to chime in on this for much better advice.

Isn't A2345 a straight and therefore not low? Other than that everything else looked real to me. I don't know OHL really, but I know a straight when I see one. I thought the best low was A2346no flush? Someone answer this since I've made this same mistake before.

No, 5432A is the best low possible. It also counts as a straight which can be used as a high hand. 6432A is the best possible hand in A-6 lowball. In O8 however, straights and flushes do not affect the low.

Play any A2
Any A3 with a suited A
Any A3 with a 4 or 5
A4 with a 5 and a KQJT and a suited A
Any four cards T and up, pair and suits a bonus.
AA with a 5 or better or any double suited aces.
Post-flop only draw to nut hands for half the pot, be a little loser with good 2-way potential.
Didn't you just do this with a S8b game?
Preflop, only raise with A23 and a suited A. or A24 suited A, A234, A245, A235, and AA2 or AA3 and AA4. Also A2 with a decent pair if you can get it heads up.
Don't go crazy with just a low post flop. Don't draw to high only hands with two low cards on the board.

yeah, I did this with a SH/L game a while back, but that was a freeroll and I ended up going through 4300+ people to get 6th. I thank everybody who helped me then to get where I got.
