    Question To Timid?

Playing 5/10 LHE, Get 66 in the SB, UTG (loose, not maniac) Raises, mid makes it 3 (he too is loose), I cap, BB calls. These guys would easily do this with KTs as AA. 4 players.

Flop comes a wonderful TT6. I check, BB checks, UTG checks, Mid bets, I call, wanting overcalls. Amazingly, they both folded.

Turn brings a third T. Great, there went my hidden boat. I bet out, he raises. His play could have indicated anything from 89s to AA, all pairs included. So i flat call.

River brings an A. He could have me beat with the A, or and overpair, pots too big, I call his bet.

    He shows 55, I win.

Those who know me, know I'm almost Gus'ish in my aggressiveness sometimes, so was I playing Smart or playing Scared?

You weren't playing scared, those turn and river cards were ugly. But the thing I do wanna mention is that I totally agree with beavis in that I'm not sure that even with maniacs that I'd cap preflop with a low pp like 66. I think you played fine, I would have assumed I was losing from the turn on (a capped pot preflop indicates to me at least one higher pp) and the ace at the end makes me at least 80% sure that I'm losing.

With that many people, capping it was as good as calling because the guy UTG probably would've capped it himself. It's always better to be the raiser than the caller.

I think you played it well, though. After he raises the turn, you gotta check/call, if not fold depending on the player. Taking the gamble with the "maybe I have the best hand" isn't bad against this guy. I hope if you had position on you and he bet out, you'd raise this hump.

I agree with the other posters regarding your post-flop play. However, I don't think I would played this hand at all, let alone capped the betting with it. Maybe I'm too timid a player, but even if I were in late position, had 66, and there were two re-raises in front of me, I would have not have called 3 bets cold with pocket sixes. Is the situation all that much different from the SB when you have to call 2.5 bets to remain in the hand? That's a lot of money to throw into a pot with a hand that is easily outflopped.

I agree, if I can't limp in (or maybe call one raise from the BB if there are several players in) with a hand like 66, I'm getting out of Dodge, since I'm probably folding unless antoher 6 flops anyway.

This is a fold preflop, your implied odds are pretty much wrecked.

As for postflop play, overcall plan on flop is fine. But I would have check-called the turn and check-called the river. Considering your read was that he would raise hands like 98s here if you bet out, then I assume he would bet with those hands too if you checked on the turn and river. Basically you WANT him to bet when you check to him so that you can call him down and hope he's bluffing/has a worse hand. Also if he happens to have a better hand than you, then you lose the minimum by just checkcalling.

If the Ace didn't fall on the river, then you could also check-call the turn, then bet out on the river to prevent him from taking a free showdown with a worse hand.
