Default Level Difference Between 5c/10c and 10c/25c

Hey all.. I've been a long time reader of these forums (a bit over a year now), but this is just one of my very first posts here.

I've been playing poker for about 1 year a half now (mostly just some very small buy-in live games with friends, freerolls on ub, observing high limit nlhe games and practicing reading people.... so basically nothing to drastic).

Basically ive recently started playing online poker (cash games) at UB, at the 5c/10c tables.. started out with 25 dollars, and ive been making some good progress (after about 12 hours of play over the course of 3 days, i was up about 70 dollars, including the bonus dollars i also recieved from getting UB points, so i figure im making about average $6/hr, playing conversatively, 1 table at a time, from the 5c/10c tables).

So i was just wondering, do the skills of the players at the 10c/25c tables differ much from the 5c/10c tables? It seems that every 10 seater table i join at the 5c/10c blind level has about 2-3 fish, and about 2-3 solid players. Is this the same case with the 10c/25c tables as well?

and also.. What about the 25c/50c tables?

you need to look at the % of players to the flop. in my opinion, 25c/50c on UB is the tightest out there. May be a good time to switch to pokerstars.

dont even think about .25/.5 with out .10.-25. On UB, the .25.-5 game is vary tough. playing 10-25 will help your transition. Dont get excited about 70$. you will never make 60bb an hour 1 tabling. try reading about bb/hr that ppl make at loose sites (ub not loose). 120 is hardly a bankroll for .10-.25 game. .10-.25 is a bit tougher than .05-.10. however the transition btwn 10/25 and /25/50 is bigger from my experience.

Im guessing your playing NO LIMIT. if you not playing NL, all this advise is for nl, i dont know shit about lim.

Swings in NL can be pretty crazy... .25/.50 you'd have your entire bankroll at risk on every hand. .10/.25 isn't really that much better for that size... people on here recommend 20 full buyins for NL cash games. Probably not neccessary against weak games, but take it into consideration when thinking about moving up... remember, you only have 7 full buy-ins for the limit you're playing now.

basically you wanna play at a level where you can offord to lose. I think some people have skill playing short stacked (buying in with 20-40bb) and playing at games that would seem too high for the br.

@ the stakes i play, losing 100-400bb in a session really dosnt bother me. For instance last night i was 2 tabling and was up about 200bb, after my peak, i got unlucky three times (bad beats), then made a bad call (bad read). suddenly i was down about 300bb. a 500bb swing will make alot of people tilt if they have a weak bankroll. Theyll say "shit, that was 25% of my hard earned $". But to mee, it really wasn't much. So i continued to play and broke at about -200bb. Remanising about those sick beats it should have been + 500-600bb .

As long as your comfortable with loseing at the level your playing its fine.

That's my point gder... being down 300bb when you only HAVE 300bb is pretty disasterous.

If you're fine redepositing if you get wiped out by a bad streak play at whatever level you're comfortable with. But if getting your bankroll wiped out means starting over a .01/.02 then you should probably play a level where a bad night won't bankrupt you.

One night, I went against all the rules and played $5/$10 with a $150 bankroll. I won over $1000 that night and never looked back.

The Leap of Faith worked for me, its not recommended, but with solid play and some luck, it can get anyone over the hump

i wouldnt recomend putting your whole br on the line. buying in with 10bb, realy dosnt give u much leverege if your get 2-7 !0x in a row against ppl who are more skilled than you.

BUt, barb man obviously is a skilled player who was able to hang with the 5/10 players, and in taking that shot, got results that would take a year to achieve @ .05-.10.
