Like I said, it doesn't work for everyone. I trust my post flop play to be able to get away when I am in trouble. A really loose table with calling stations is not ideal for this. Tough to get a read when someone will call 6 2 off all the way to the river.

Even 2 overcards does not mean you are beat, it just means tread carefully.

If I raise 7's 4 or 5XBB, and get 1 caller (which is what I am hoping for if I get called at all) is a flop of 3 9 Q rainbow scary? Maybe. But a probe bet will answer that in a hurry. Whats the guy who called putting me on? Whats he calling with? AK, AQ, AJ, another PP, suited connectors? He may have made his hand, but I find that more times than not my probe bet will win the hand. Remember, I showed strength before the flop. A raise and I am gone.

A flop of 3 6 J is definately not that scary........a bet often wins.

I wont even probe if an Ace hits.

The other factor is being able to vary my play. I tend to be extremely conservative........this is the one loose play I make, and I am making it with at least some sort of hand.

I used to exclusively limp with my mid pairs, and have had success with this approach. Trust me, I am not doing this all the time, but when the table is right it works great for me.

I usually limp 22-88, and raise 99...randomly I may switch it up and raise from late position with some of those.
