I jst got involved in a stud h/l freeroll on Stars and have no idea what I'm doing. So far I'm not doing too bad (made it to the brake with over 2k in chips) but I have no idea what kind of starting hands I should be looking for or anything.
So far, I've been playing either all low, all high or suited connectors (all 3). Any suggestions would be great.

Yeah, I dropped the 3 highs (always ran into dead cards) after playing a few and folding on 5th or 6th street because it wasn't going anywhere. So far, I'm not too bad (almost 3/4 field gone and still have 20bb in stack). The biggest problem I have is not understanding why I'm winning some of the hands I'm winning. It's a freeroll and I've always wanted to play stud (hold over from my navy days where a stud game was almost always going on but it was always regular Stud-hi).
I'll see how it goes...thanks for the helpTrons

start with the highest pair on the board - so fold KK3 if there is an Ace showing.
Any three low cards below an 8 is playable.
Three low suited or connected are premium.
Avoid hands like KQJ and even A38 - you really don't want to draw to the worst low hand.
If you don't improve you hand on 4th dump it, unless you still have high potential
Say you have
and you catch a
You could still take one card off if the pot is big. If you hit your draws on 4th jam them. Back off if you dont improve on 5th though.

What constitute a bettable high hand on 4th or 5th street? is 2 pair good...or do I need trips or better to be betting?
There's 713 left, started over 4300. Bets are 300/600 and I have 16.5K in chips. At what point do I hit critical and need to play anything. I'm trying to play this like a Hold-em tournament as far as hand selection (IE: I'm above 10BB so I'm still playing tight looking for oppertunities.) Can I play this way?
Made it to the 2nd brake with 585 left and my stack is 26.6K (bets going up to 400/800)
What's really funny is I found out the tourny that I gain entrance to if I place in this is on Sunday. I have to work Sunday...

Made it to the 3rd brake with 55k in chips, stakes are 2k/4k ante 300 and 154 people left. Not too shabby for my first Stud H/L tourney

if your hi hand appears to be the best, jam it, but if it looks like an opponent has a made low on 5th take it carefully, on 4th if they have a good low draw, slow down.
