Wanted to get some opinions.
What kind of tournaments do you think would be most profitable in the long run? (assume all buy ins to be 20$ or less (mostly less))
10 man SnG
5 man SnG
18 man SnG
small MTT ( <100)
med MTT ( 100- 300)
big ( 300- 1000)
Pokerstars style ( 1000+)
Sattelites to play in big money tournies.
Any comments / opinions would be great, im not looking to make any huge decisions based on this but would like to hear what people say.

the $3 and $5 rebuy on stars
the $10 rebuy is good too, but that can get expensive, and the best players on stars are usually in it

definately agree the 3$ re-buy is great, get basically a 20$ tourney for the price of a 10$.

depends what your skill is. i play short handed (6 max, cash or sng) so my experience allows me to do well in 6 perrson sngs.
I get more ass than a toilet seat. All shapes/colors/sizes.

I think small MTTs are pretty profitable...
90-120 players I would say. (BTW, I think I never won one of these, however, lots of 2n and 3rd places)
Less luck involved IMHO.
10 man SNG would be my 2nd choice.

10 handed SNG's are my favourite. I find that anything below 50 dollar buy ins and you can pretty much go on autopilot until the bubble.

I don't have my stats with me right now, but my recollection is this. I started with $80 on Pokerstars, and I played SNGs exclusively (starting with $5.50 games, then moving up to $11 games when I hit $200 in bankroll). I turned that $80 into about $500 over the course of a few months.
Recently, I started playing large MTTs on-line. My best guess is that I've played in about 12 of them, and I've won over $1,500. I've won one and come in 6th in another. I have several other money finishes.
I think that the SNGs were great practice for tournament play and really help to refine skills. But once you have the skills, and I think that the low buy-in MTTs are potential goldmines, and thus, they are the more lucrative use of your bankroll. There is so much dead money in the prize pool, and you can make it very far in these without taking much risk at all. Indeed, in both my final tables, I had played less than 20% of the hands by the time I made it that far.Last edited by mxp2004; 11-03-2005 at 08:21 AM.

Size of the tourny doesnt matter. The most profitable ones are the ones with huge overlay.
Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.
