    Default 6 handed tips?

Hey i've just recently started to play some of the 6 handed NL cash games, .05/.10 and .10/.25. my problem is, i have no idea of the strategy required to play these. i just dont feel comfortable with what im doing. what i want to know is, how much must i tweak my full table strategy in order to make money 6 handed, and what main strategic differences there are between the two. please help!

I only play 6 or less.

You dont have to be THAT loose. I get so much action down there that i can actually play full ring strategy (but dont unless lazy).

Alot of limping down tehre, u want to isolate with your hands. Ppl play JT 56 for 3.5bb b/c "its 6 seat, gotta play loose"

Also u will become vary aquainted with the players b/c its less info to keep track of (compared to full ring).

Once u know them, bluffing, calling, folding (basic reads) will become easier.

if your on UB, there is 6 seat strategy under the pro's strategy section.

u can bet UTG with confidance since UTG is more like middle position.
I highly suggest opening for 3.5bb with poket pairs, and AK AQ...

ill let Jason, the master of excellent poker discussion, put his word in.
I get more ass than a toilet seat. All shapes/colors/sizes.

Actually, what you wrote sounded pretty darn good to me. As for my part, well, let me tell you . .. .

I don't know crap about 6 handed cash games. LOL! In fact, I think I suck badly at cash games.

I'm almost strictly a NL Holdem tourney player. It's such a different universe, and frankly I think that it's tough for tourney players to switch over to cash games without some help. That being said, I think cash game players can do fairly well switching over to tourneys (but have to improve their skill set to consistently place in the $).

I've got a lot to learn about ring games from everyone here.

    Default starting hands

alot of people like to play the mathematical game when it comes to starting hands. IM not one of these people.

However, i do know if im getting decent odds, its just that i feel uncumfortable playing hands that are poor, but are playable b/c of odds.

make sure you arent playing hands just because u havnt won a pot in a while. With the blinds coming arround so often, people feel pressure to win some blinds back and end up losing.

Starting hands: u obviously know what to do with sweet hands: AA-22, AK, AQ... The question is what new hands am i adding to the mix? It is up to you.
Limping (or raising depending on situation) with drawing hands: Ax suited, QJ, JT... 22-66, low suited connectors is an option. These can be dangerous hands however if:

    1. you play them after someone raised pre flop
    2. have trouble mucking them on a decent flop ie: open ended draw, but pot or implied odds not favorable.
    3. make top pair but crap kick.

My theory on starting hands is @ full ring they are vary important. As we move to shorter table, 5-7 person, the importance of hands drops down and the importance of non-card skills increase (basically an intangable feel for the situation). Finally you go down to heads-up, where the least important thing are the cards!

So you can mix it up with drawing hands in favorable situations (ideally no raise pf and in good position), but dont forget about the many other factors of the game.
I get more ass than a toilet seat. All shapes/colors/sizes.
