so i figured id try out NL for a little while this evening just to see ....
been sitting very quiet, up a bit, down a bit, nothing really to get too worked up about. my plan was to play premium hands and get most out of them cos there was a lot of raising/reraising pf and calling down with nothing at all by majority of players.
this is the hand that i really didnt know what kinda bets to make and generally was unsure almost the whole way through.......
UTG was a mixed bag callin and raising with almost every imaginable hand. MP3 was only at table for few hands but won pot before with bluff showing J2o to board of KK4....guess J2o from MP may say enough bout him.

Pot $2.05
Ok then...i liked this flop but not the flush draw. figured if i bet out, id know where i stood if played back at. Bet size?? Didnt wanna check it and be faced with big bet that i might fold
Dee: bets $1.50
Utg: folds
MP2: calls $1.50

Pot $4.90
didnt know if i liked the Q or not. Bet out again and still not sure if id like him to fold or not. Prob didnt mind him calling. My thinking was that he wouldnt reraise unless he had AQ/AT/KJ and if he called, he was on flush draw.
Dee: bets $6
MP2: calls $6

Pot $16.30
No flush draw.....so only thing i didnt want now was KJ slowplayed. Couldnt put him on Ax as he woulda reraised flop/turn going by his previous hands. But, if i thought i had best hand, was bet size correct? If i didnt have best hand, was bet size correct?
Dee: bets $8
MP2: folds
Dee: doesn't show hand
Dee collected $16.30 from Main pot
{hope the above is somewhat readable.....as far as i can see, Bison doesnt support Caribbean Sun}

Play seems fine to me
Dee,
I'm primarily a NL tourney player, so I might not be the best evaluator of a ring game. But here's my 2 cents for perusal (and comment by better players who disagree with me):
I don't have any problems with the way you played the hand. While your position sucks (1st to act after the flop), you're getting 7:1 odds on your money, your implied odds are huge with 4 players in, and you can close the betting PF - frankly I'd call in with any two cards in that situation. Seems to me the guy either had a PP he couldn't get away from (Party Poker is full of these idiots who call off their whole stack trying to hit a set of 9's on the river against a board like this) or is chasing the flush. I'd put my money on chasing the flush - and in all cases your bets were correctly sized (about 2/3 pot or more gives them incorrect odds to call).
The
isn't a scary card, so I don't necessarily have a problem with you making a 1/2 pot bet on the river, though I'd mix up the strategy a bit more probably making that bet about 20% of the time, a "priced in" bet of just $3-4 about 40% of the time (sets up your later post oak bluffs for the better players at the table - not this guy of course), and trying a check raise about 40% of the time (higher if I think the guy is a pot stealer - this will set up free checked down showdowns with your medium-weak hands later - hopefully not many!). I would not bet this hand out if I saw a scary card most of the time - a diamond in this case (of course, if you're at the table for a while, you have to mix up your play so then I'd throw in a check raise or bet about 20% of the time - but would be prepared to throw my hand away for any sizable raise or re-raise).
Hope that helps. Any feedback?

Dee,
I think you played it perfectly. You had the pot odds to call sitting in the BB against a min-raise.........all your bets made sense and caused your opponent (who was on a flush draw IMHO) to make mistakes because he was not getting correct odds to draw at flush. Your recognition that you are mucking this crap on most flops is key. You hit the miracle flop and had a fish on the hook.....pays for all the times when you will miss flop entirely and have to check/fold
Well played.
