    Default PT Autorate opinions please

Ok, I've logged over 4300 hands, and PT has me rated as TA-A. While I feel (since at 2700 it was sLA-A) this is improvement, I'm wondering what rate I should be striving for? I'm using Marms rules for rating.

When I posted my stats at 2700 hands, I stopped looking for hands to play and reasons to play them, and started looking for hands to fold and reasons to fold them. I feel this has greatly improved my play and my WR has increased and is increasing every session, but should I be playing this way? Have I gone from one extreme to the other and do I need to search out a mighty high ground?

I should say that when I'm looking for reasons to fold It's all PF. I'm talking about hands like JTo in late CO or MP3. I think that this is a drawing hand and nobody else is in the pot...fold...55 in EP and I'm not comfortable with who's going to raise behind me...fold...are these good reasons to let go marginal hands?

If you look at my positional stats, I'm only in the red in one position (not including the blinds) and that's MP2. It's only about $4 or so, but I was in the Red in all MPs...I tightened it up and have improved all my stats to green except that one, which is working it's way up.

I believe the reason I had such a hard time with MP is because I knew to play tight EP and was comfortable with hands to play and when to play them LP, but MP was taking my money...That has got to be the biggest improvement to my game lately.

I don't think you should target a rating for yourself.

In some games, if you are TAA, you may not be playing enough hands.

    Look at your winrate.

if you were LPP, and had a -2bb/100, well, then you coud try to improve, but I think if you are on the border of TAA, TAP, SLAA, and SLAP and have you good WR, you shouldn't sweat it.

I vary from SLAP to SLAA. I don't think tight is good on most tables.

Tight is right, but if you can outplay your opponents postflop, you can open up a little more.

    Default know yourself

    NL:
At low limits TAA is ok no-one notices.

As tables tighten and blinds become important you loosen to steal...

My stats at 0.01/0.02 had me TAA

At .5/1 and 1/2 (flop of 30%) by some rating systems - I turn out to be a fish... but I'd rather be a fish at 0.5/1 @ 8bb/100 than TAA @ 2bb/100.
The reason I end up a fish is that I play a lot more hands preflop but the fighting is all done by the turn (often by the flop) so I appear to be loose passive

    tight is subjective.

You are in the CO and one player raises, fold ATs.

You are in the CO and UTG raises and 4 people call, call with ATs.

If you use a blind description of "tight" you are not adjusting your game for table conditions.

Let your WR be your guide. In fact, I would suggest you turn off auto-rating yourself.

My VPIP varies from 15-25% depending on the table I am playing.

wow, mine is around 3. probably because at the low limits you get odds to draw so often,

I agree that alot of it depends on the tables that you play. Against really loose players, I can see up to 30-35% of the flops. Other times I can drop down to as low as 15%, though I tend to leave those tables quickly.

I do auto-rate myself just for fun...I range from sLAP to TAA.

I don't use my rules to autorate myself, I use them to profile my opponents. My raules basically group better players into large, generic groups, and seperate the worse players into more specific groups. Since I'm mainly a low limit player (<5/10), there are mor fish than sharks, and basically I jsut give the better players respect, but with better analysis I can exploit specific attributes of the weaker players.

Does anybody know how to "start over" with pokertracker? I changed my game a ton since I got it and want to start over but don't want to lose my old date. I find the help site very difficult to search so if someone could explain this I would appreciate it. Thanks.
