i have to be doing something wrong please assist me and get me out of this funk.

#1... is it possible to go a long long time without seeing any decent hole cards> i mean good god by the time i see something worth playing i am already in round 3-4 of S&G and the ante's have killed me by then. i mean good god the best cards i am seeing today are low end pairs...i put in the BB and get nothin but AKQ. Then when i have something like Kj suited i get nothin but 739's and stuff. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#2.... I just now saw a pair of JJ i limp in and the flop comes 5J9. I bet 55 (this is round 2) dont wanna scare anyone off and the guy calls me. turn comes 2.. I bet 1000 thinking he prolly has AJ and will call. He comes back all in and i call river is an 8 and he straights out he went all in with 67 suited and got an 8 river. I mean wtf am i supposed to do? am i doing something wrong?


P.S. do you think i need to play a little looser? or just encourage me that the cards will come thanks

My own experience.......

1-is it possible? course....todays been my first profit making day in last 3 weeks. getting nothing but thrash and beats when i do get a playable hand in last while.

2-see 1 above. it doesnt really help when they hit but in the long run u want these guys making dumb calls against u.

as i said, todays been my first day in last 3 weeks where im actually not losing/barely breaking even for a day. im gettin good hole cards, hittin flops and not gettin as sucked out on with dumb draws. im also not gettin as impatient waiting for cards to come.

do u need to play looser?? post a few hands on here and the guys/gals here will soon point u in that direction or not.

will the cards come?? they definently will and when they do it'll seem like christmas day again...well it did for me anyway.

keep the chin up and dont go full steam ahead towards tiltsville like i did during a particularly sickening session.

I think the prob is that you are way too tight. Of course you can go a long time without seeing good cards, most hands you will get are crap. The key is to maximize the times when you get good cards.

You limped in with JJ? Are you kidding me? You raise JJ to drive away the trash like low suited conectors. A healthy raise (4 Xbb ) would have chased the guy playing 67 suited. and you would have won that hand. If it doesn't chase him, wright down his name because he will be handing over his kids college education to you over the long haul.

If an A K or Q hits board you can slow down big time because you might be beat.

I go nuts when I hear people say they dont want to raise their premium pairs because they are afraid they will chase people... If they all fold pick up the blinds and be happy...you just bought another round to get a good hand.....its not something to ignore. When you are fortunate enough to get a caller or two, you need to recognize the flops that help you. In this instance, anyone calling the raise would be utterly destroyed by your hand.
