I am pretty sure I played it right, and the guy insulting me after the hand was just being an idiot. This was actually my 1st hand at the table and I was in the BB.
Playing .5/1$ limit at Pokerroom
I get dealt
![]()
UTG villian raises to 1$, it is folded around to the button who calls, SB folds, I re-raise to 1.50$, Villian calls, button calls.
The flop:

I bet, villian calls and the button now folds.
I bet here as a continuation bet, I figured he wasn't raising with the rags that hit here, so I was really hoping to pick up the pot. I figured I had probably 10 outs here
The turn:
I check, villian bets, I call
Well I picked up alot more outs now, not really sure what he is playing could be a medium pair like 9s or could be something like AJ, KJ, QJ. I figure I still have 9 outs for the flush, Kings or aces may or may not give me the winner, and a 2 will either win it or split it for me
The river:
I check, villian bets, I raise, villian calls
well I hit a heart and got the nuts, so the play was obviously easy to make
He shows
![]()
He then begins to berate me for making stupid chases, and how badly I played that hand. Pokerroom allows for swearing in chat and he kept going at me with these insults etc.... I typed "well I just felt like I was gonna get lucky" then clicked off his chat. I think I played this hand well, whether I ended up winning or losing this hand, it's just that this guy bugged me and I wanted to see what you guys thought of how I played it.

My response to people who start ranting like that is usually,
"Well as long as you're not bitter"
and if they keep going,
"Can I refer to you as my stalker?"
He's an idiot, don't sweat it.

I like the way you played the hand. I might have led out on the turn as a semi-bluff given that your opponent did not re-raise you either before or after the flop, but as it turned out, you made the optimal play. Since your opponent had hit his J, you would have definitely gotten re-raised, and you saved yourself an extra bet while you were behind.

I'd have been pissed if you had
LOL.
Depending on the table, I would have even bet the turn. Otherwise, you played perfectly.

Actually, he had a flush draw, a straight draw, and one live overcard. That's quite a collection of outs.

SSH says you can count a backdoor flush draw as another 1.5 outs, so by that standard you had 11.5 outs. I think you could call that bet on the flop either a continuation bet or a semi-bluff.

My first inclination would have been to check-call the turn (Which is obviously where his frustration is). Looking at his possible hands, AJ, KJ, and QJ, that gives you an average of 16 outs. (This is calculated by taking probability of each of these possible hands and averaging the outs of each possibliity.)
At the turn, there was $5.50 in the pot (After 25 cent rake taken out). He bets $1 giving you 6.5 to 1 odds on an approximately 2 to 1 draw. Yeah, you played it perfectly.
BTW, this is my first post. If I bored anyone to death with these numbers, let me know.

Well, thank you. I did realize after posting that I made 2 small errors in my numbers, but they cancelled each other out. But anyway, back to the original question, It would have been correct to call the turn bet if there was only $1 in the pot due to the implied odds. (You are roughly a 2 to 1 underdog, getting 2 to 1 for your call, plus implied odds.) Simply put, that guy was just a sore loser that doesn't understand pot odds.
