Default bottom set..(board gets scary)

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $.10 BB (9 handed) converter

UTG ($2.90)
Hero ($10)
MP1 ($8.80)
MP2 ($4.55)
MP3 ($16.50)
CO ($7.27)
Button ($9.75)
SB ($9.58)
BB ($6.90)

Preflop:/ Hero is UTG+1 with , .
Hero calls $0.10, 2 folds//, MP3 raises to $0.45/, 2 folds//, SB calls $0.40, BB calls $0.35, Hero calls $0.35.

Flop:/ ($1.80) , , (5 players)/
SB checks, BB bets $0.45/, Hero calls $0.45, MP3 calls $0.45, SB folds.

Turn:/ ($3.15) (4 players)/
BB bets $0.7/, Hero raises to $2/, MP3 folds, BB calls $1.30.

River:/ ($7.15) (3 players)/
BB checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot:/ $7.15

this is my thought process during the hand,

pre flop, i called as the majority of hands were not raised and i thought i had odds to catch a set even in EP.

MP3 raises and sb and bb call, MP3 has been tight rarely raising pre-flop so i guess he has a decent hand. i feel that i have implied odds and that if i hit a set MP3 will pay me off, also i have actual odds of 3:1

on the flop, BB bets 0.45, i call thinking that there is a good chance MP3 will raise (otherwise i would raise to prevent being outdrawn on this flop), MP3 in fact calls.

turn, BB bets i decide to raise in case someone is drawing to a str8/flush, board and find out if i am still ahead.

river, the river card could have completed many draws, so do i check behind or value bet??

how do people think i played this,

also was i thinking the correct things/ in the correct way during the hand?

I am not a NL cash game player, so take this for what it is worth.

On the flop, I would have raised.

Probably to 1.50.

Now there is about 5 bucks in the pot on the turn. If he bets I put him all-in, if he checks, I bet 3.

But as it played out, it is very unlikely that the seven did anything but give him two pair. The only logical hand is T8 that would have been helped there.

He probably had something like KT or QT, I would probably bet river. Don't fear the runner runner flush - unless he had JTs doh!

I'm thinking BB had ATs or KTs (possibly spades, but doubtful because he didn't the river). I doubt the 7 gave him a two pair. I'm thinking he has TPTK. I would have raised the flop. Get the others out of the pot, and see how much BB really likes his hand.

I guess an argument can be made for flopping a monster and slow playing it...but with a PF raiser behind you (two over cards or an over pair), I want him laying down and not having a chance to draw to beat you. I find it doubtful that the flush helped anybody and I can't see anybody drawing to an inside str8 with the PF play and the flop play, I don't see anybody with small hands like that...what was the outcome?

Bobby,

I would have bet at this. Just knowing how I play, if I have a made hand after the river, I am not checking for fear that you would check behind me. He checked because he was afraid. To me, he has something......but not enough to beat your set. I am making a small bet here to force a call and get a few more dollars. 1/3 pot maybe? something that he is compelled to call.

Look at it this way, if you bet 1/3 pot here in the exact situation 3 times......1 time he folds, twice he calls and you lose....you are still ahead...not a bad situation.

I am certain you would win this much more than 1 out of 3 times......

I'd probably raise it more on the turn, and then come out firing on the river with $3 or so. He bet it out on the flop and turn, and then checks the river. He is scared of the flush/and or straight. He would have re-raised with a set on the turn. That being said, I think you're in good shape.

I would check. If he has nothing he wouldnt call your bet anyway. Atleast you get to see his cards. If he had the straight or the flush, after you bet he is goin all in. Then you have to pay him off to get the same info that you could have gotten for free. But that would be just how I would have played the river.

there isnt really a reason to raise it on the flop, he just hit a monster and right now there is only 2 hands that beat him, i like the smooth call here setting up the bear trap, i think i am betting a couple bucks on the river just because he was firing both rounds and then checks the river

The whole hand seems to be played wierd to me. I would be scared of an A-5 or A-8 of spades. But I always think the worst.
