At the first table of a MTT today. 5 players I recognize, two who I consider to be amongst the best that play at this location. One of these is sitting two seats to my left.
I'm playing my usual game. I raise it with AK and take it down with a bet on the flop. A while later I get AQ, and raise to 2.00 (.50 cent blinds). The guy on my left re-raises all-in! (he has a big stack, probably up to about 20, while I'm at around 13). I say "reraising all in?" and he replies "Gonna try some of YOUR moves today," lol... I didn't realize I was considered THAT aggressive... but I fold. (found out later he had 99)
I win two hands, eliminating one player when my JJ holds up against his 99 on a low flop. Then, in the small blind, I get K9o. I raise it to 2 bucks on a blind steal, and this guy, immediately to my left now, again re-raises all-in. Of course, I have to fold. (he had QQ)
Not too much later, I get dealt AKo. With blinds at .50/1 now, I raise it to 4 bucks with a limper in front of me. Again, my man pushes all his chips in. He hasn't done this on any other hands today, but it's the third time he did it to one of my raises. I couldn't let him keep pushing me off my raises, so I felt like I had to call and did. His KK held up and I was out of the tourney.
Now... how would you guys deal with this situation? It seems like one guy thinks you're weak, and is going out of his way to challenge you? I felt like I had to make that call, even though I knew it was a poor play. Tips would be appreciated
