    Default BB hand (SnG)

    this is a hand from a live SnG.

    the game starts with 100TC and was 7 handed, 6 remain

    when this hand occured i was at around 1750-1900 and was 1st in chips, blinds were around 4,8.

    villain is around 1500-1600 and the closest to me in chips.

    villain is sort of weak tight but slightly erratic, will play limp with all pairs, suited connectors (not always in the correct conditions), and 2 high cards. this player is VERY bluffable, but can be unpredictable and erratic. also may become much looser and agressive when bored/tired.

    i said tight but will play more hands than me but less than most if unraised. if the pot is raised becomes very tight. prob tight passive on the flop onwards, but as i said can be unpredictable.

    the other players have 500-1200 and are not involved much in this hand.

    i hold 10 2 off suit

    there is no pre-flop raise and i see the flop for free, along with Villain (mp) and sb.

    flop = 10 4 5 rainbow. sb checks, i check, villain checks.

    can i bet here with TP shit kicker?

    turn = 2

    i bet 1/2 pot, villain pushes all-in, sb folds.

    what do i do here. i feel it is likely i am ahead facing TP good kicker or a bluff (assuming i have a worse hand than i have) but do i put the majority of my chips on the line here?

    Is he really going to slow play TPGK?

    I dunno...its a huge overbet, he could have a small set and looking to protect against now straight draw, though he probably have bet something on the flop if he was too overly concerned about it. A3 isn't out of the question either.

    Im probably tossing this away whilst mumbling, you have chip lead no real reason to gamble here.

    he wouldn't 'slow play' TPGK but may play overly passivly and not bet the flop

    NO need to make this call, you have a comfortable amount of chips. Let it go and remember those chips will go back to you some point later on

    I'm not sure why you didn't bet after the flop. If you are worried about top pair crap kicker you should have at least made a probe bet here. Without betting you know nothing about his hand.

    I think you need to lead out and get some info here.

    I think now you are faced with a risky situation.....probe bet between 1/3 and 1/2 pot after flop would have helped.

    anyeye, this is what i was thinking (small flop bet).

    would anyone else bet the flop?

    what if i bet 1/3 pot and get a call, how would i proceed?

    Default my view

    You had two pair on turn?

    He's got an over pair or its a bluff ( its a very weak flop)- I'd call this all-in - but maybe I'm too aggressive. He might have a set but tournaments are too short to worry about sets.. It's still early in the SnG. If you bust out start a new one - If you take his stack(you have enough strength to do this - then your close to in the money..

    I'm not sure about the small flop bet. You've got nothing at that point: If he has slow played JJ then he will all-in you at the flopand your dead. By the turn his slow play has back fired.

    I can be easily be accused of treating HOH as a roadmap and following it too literally, but I have found that most of DH's recommendations work well in practice.

    The probe bet may not work all the time, but here is what you get.

    1/3 pot probe: if he folds 1 x and calls 2 times (and you lose) this is a break even play........thats nice. In actuality I find that its more like fold 2x call 1x...most times opponent has nothing and leading out takes the hand down.

    If you get a call, you now know opponent has something (I actually go slightly over 1/3 because if theres a draw out there I don't want to give right odds....slight bump makes odds just bad enough for a call.)

    If he calls, you can either improve on the next street or check/call check/fold depending on your reads.

    Not betting makes you make a real tough decision without having any more info about opponents hand......I play to avoid tough decisions...for most part this has worked for me.
