I would recommend a basic poker strategy book.

Something like Super System 2 or Play Poker Like the Pros

They go through several strategies and can work very well when applied properly.

I would suggest playing tight, really tight out of position (play pairs 9 and over and AK,AQ) and loosen up a bit in position (AJ, maybe suited As, 88, 77, KQ and big suited connectors J10s, 109s etc...). Play the good hands aggressively pre-flop, and make some bets on the flop to get information.

Tight aggressive, especially at a full table

Give me a little info on yourself

How new are you to the game?

Where do you play?

Typical game conditions?, such as # players seeing the flop, Do they call down to the end, etc.

Uggg, not SS2 or PPLP, try SSH and HPFAP..... much better works, just find the happy medium balance between the games....

I agree with marm. SS2 is for higher stakes games and PPLTP is for brand new players who have never played poker before.

1/2 and 2/4 are very high for beginners. I suggest playing on PS at .25/.50 limit or .01/.02 NL.
