As a new player both to poker and to ring games I would play very tight until you gain experience. Playing tight will keep you out of the difficult decisions that will arise. strong experienced players tend to make the correct decisions, decent inexperienced players tend to make the wrong decisions.
from EP, the first 3 positions after the BB, play only TT-AA, AKs, AK, and AQs. Always raise and if someone re-raises re-raise with QQ-AA otherwise just call. If a decent player has already raised in front of you only play JJ-AA and AK and re-raise.
From MP,
If you are first in raise with 77-AA, ATs or better, AJ offsuit or better, KQs.
If a couple players have limped in you can play hands like 22-66, JTs, KJs, ATs but not hands like A4s or KJ offsuit or AT offsuit.
If a decent player has raised play like you would from early position to a raise
From LP,
If you are first in raise with any of the hands I said were playable above as well as KJ offsuit, AT, A4s type hands.
If you have a couple limpers play the same as from MP, if you have 4 or more limpers you can limp with any suited Ace or suited connector down to 45. but you still will not be playing KJ or AT.
this will help keep you out of difficult decisions and still let you play poker
