Yeah when you have 2,7off...jk There are couple kinds of bluffs, semi, stone cold and bluffing the bluffer. Not an easy answer but the classic time is on the button when everyone checks to you. The problem with that is the higher level games people are ready to check raise you. Then you raise pre flop and get a couple callers and your not last to act and it's checked to you, you miss the flop and you bet it (in the lead). Again someone might test you and raise your ass knowing chances are you missed the flop but could have an over pair. You limp in with a suited connector and flop open ended and or a flush draw. It goes on and on and every situation is a little different depending on your opponents so really experience is the best answer.

Here is a simple thing I do, Lets say for example

    You Have 6/7

    Flop is 4/5/10

You Call/Bet the flop and 1 caller/better and you pretty sure this guy doesnt have a ten

    Turn Brings another 10

    4/5/10/10

I would make a nice bet on the turn, 90% of the time this works winning me the pot, This is just an example of a good time to bluff ( Its semi bluff)

Note you cant bluff some players because they wont fold any marginal Hand.

A rule I usually follow is to never bluff big without any outs. Online though, bluffing early in tournaments is not recommended. People will pay you when you make a hand, so just wait for cards.

I would say, if you bluff or enter a pot with a weak hand, you have to have a plan.

When a 3rd suited card hit the turn, when the board paired, or when a second suited card hit the turn... you can make it look like protecting a huge hand. Check raise the flop and open bet the turn is a good one too.

A bluff is a part of the whole game. It's not a play you can isolate. What will work, realy depend of your oponent, your table image, stacks, size of the blinds... etc. etc.

    wrong time to bluff:
    - When you missed a draw that you played the exact classic way the odds suggested to play it. (very easy to catch somebody doing it)
    - When you face a very short stack VS the size of the blinds
    - When you are on a hot streak (you won 5 out of 15 hands for example)
    - When you face maniacs
    - And many others

    Just my 2 cents.

Best way to bluff is just play very solid. Raising when you got a great hand , when you win show them. After a while you will become some what predictable, this is when you toss out a few bluffs, semi bluffs are best( bet like you have very good hand but actually have nothing yet but a straight or flush draw), if they call you still may get the win.

If you bluff too often or are not careful you will lose alot of chips and kick yourself for it. Play solid and the bluffs will come.

i think a mistake people sometimes make is that they think they that when they are going to bluff, they must pre decide to bluff no matter what comes on the flop/turn/river.bluffs should be well timed and based on factors such as if the opponent showed weakness, betting patters, position, stack size, size of the blinds,etc....watch phil ivey and youll know what i mean.its looks like blind aggression but he knows exactly what he's doing.

    Default Never...

make a play at a pot you can't win if you get called. I unfortunately can't take my own advice.
