I wonder what cards you are paying under the gun?
Half of the field is gone, Blinds start to mean something.
You are average.
You have a tight image.
A10? AJ? AQ? AK? PP? Does suited means something to you? Limp Raise or fold.
Me : PP 6-9 limp ; 10 and up raise 3 x BB
A10 fold, AJ call, AQ and AK raise 3x BB.
Thanks for the input.
I realized that a lot of important decision are when you have only your 2 cards and avoid underisable situations...

what is ''average''
it doesnt matter where you are in relation to the field. its about your stack compared to the blinds
also it depends on the table and your image
i dont like to limp much late in a tounament so i might raise with 22-99 or fold depending on the stack again. what is the difference between 22 and 66 btw?
what you do is pretty good for UTG i guessit's better to be pissed off than pissed on

AA-77,AK,AQs. All coming in for a raise. Folding 66 and lower and AQo and lower. Just push with Q7s though.

In a tourney with an average stack I'm playing TT-AA AK and AQs up front

I am guessing that bonch is folding them because with so few people left at the table he is not going to get the implied odds he needs to play those hands since he will most likely win if he hits his set.
Me...I'm different on these hands.. When we get to a short table I love these mid-pair hands. I will raise them similar to AQ or AK...........A lot of times at this stage people will fold because they tighten up near the cut. I don't mind just getting the blinds with these hands.
If i get a caller and the flop comes high cards I can make an easy continuation bet into the board and take the pot down.
If the board comes low I may have hit my set and now can trap and take down a nice pot. if i missed my set with low cards on board, my pair is probably still good and i can fire away.
I have had a lot of success with these at this stage of the game. It doesn't always work of course, but fairly successful.

That whole Sorites logic is pretty weak. There has to be somewhere where you draw the line, and this is it.

I think you're missing the point.
I think JKO's trying to say that all small pairs are the same, because you play them no-set-no-bet."Last night I stayed up late playing poker with tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died."
