Default Worst poker play in history...

See if you can find ALL the mistakes. It may be hard lol... I don't know WHERE my mind was during this hand.

Live tourney, Lvl 1 .25/.50 blinds, start with T10.00 in chips. 9 handed.

    Involved in the hand...
UTG - solid player, makes some final tables but doesn't place (pays top 3) About 5.50 in chips.
    UTG+1- me... apparantly a complete fish 10.00
UTG+2 - I've seen him do well before... but he plays LOTS of pots. He took down the first 4 or 5 pots we'd played today before this one. Didn't show any hands. Don't remember any poor plays I've ever seen him make, so it may just have been false memory. About 18.00

    I'm dealt

    UTG - Call .50
    HERO- Raise to 1.75
    UTG+2- Call 1.75
    6 fold
    UTG - Call 1.75

    UTG - Check
    Hero - Bet 3.50
    UTG+2 - Call 3.50
    UTG - Fold

    Hero - Check
    UTG+2 - Bet All-in
Hero - Call 4.25 (all-in) (At this point I said... "You don't have the straight, so I guess I have to call")

I'll post the results if you like, but I'd like to see if I made any mistakes here that I DIDNT catch.

That's pretty ugly. I don't even know what to think here.

On the flop, I'm checking there. Too many draws. If he has what I think he has, he might check behind you.

With the turn card, I'm check/fold here, unless he bets the min. There are ALOT of hands that beat you, and not too many you beat.

I'd say he has something like AJ here, although there is a huge range of hands I could put him on, most of which beat you.

I don't like the flop raise. KQ is not that strong UTG+1, suited or not. Flop is just check / fold, there's two many players in to just assume that no one has the ace. On the turn, you might as well call now that you're here. You suck out on a loose ace or somethin?

I guess it's a FD (very poorly played)... and a hit very well played to induce a bluff!

Not other hand but AJ deserve a call on the flop IMO. (however, I would have fold or raise but we never know)

Str8, 2 pairs and trips deserve a raise to protect.

Weak A a fold... as the FD IMO, but... as I said for AJ.

    Where do i begin................

There is no way I am raising pre-flop.....................
Once you are called i am assuming theres an ace out there (people just don't lay down any aces in these home games).

Ace hits on flop and you bet into it? No. mistake #2.

Turn..........Dangerous board.........home players love any 2 suited cards and you have 3 diamonds on board...........could he be playing Ax suited diamonds? I am tossing my 2 Google Page Ranking here....although a call is reasonable because of the pot odds and the fact that you have 60% of your stack committed with a shot at a boat....6 outer.

I am guessing that you are all wrong and he was chasing the flush draw and just hit........yes he was wrong to call the flop bet, but this (I think) is a home game and people make those mistakes all the time. This time it paid off for him.

Played poorly on you part................You built a large pot with a marginal hand..as per DH this is a no no.

    So what did he show?

not sure if anyone is gonna like this or not, but i might fold preflop... i dont like to see UTG limp... especially because you said he was a solid player... i would fold behind him and wait for a better spot to try and win some chips... no need to risk UTG raising you or facing a couple people after the flop with you in EP.. like what happened.. may seem really tight but i think its the right play to fold here..

Well, I was right... he didn't have the straight. But, as was pointed out, there was virtually nothing he COULD have had that I could beat. These aren't quite home games... quality of play is not very high, but we get 50 entrants routinely and sometimes more.

He had AQ for a higher two pair.

If the table had been passive, I would limp wiht it, but I woudn't raise in that spot.

Ya, what I decided was bad before I posted here...

    1. I haven't been playing KQ at all from early position at these things... much less for a raise.
    2. I knew the raise wouldn't get the guy in the pot to fold... and was pretty sure homeboy to my left was coming along also (though I didn't mind since he would also call with crap cards)
    3. After the flop I had middle pair... but I was 95% sure one of my opponents had an A... and still bet out a significant portion of my stack.
    4. On the turn, I checked showing weakness... whether he would have folded or not, all-in would have at least some chance of winning (when all i needed was a jack to beat him)... a check/call was simply horrid.
    5. If I wasn't confident enough to bluff at the pot... WTF was I doing calling that bet??

Finally... why get involved on a scary board... calling a big bet... in a situation where I know I'm better then everyone else at the table and will probably have at least a 50/50 shot of making the final table if I just fold? lol.
