I hate it, but I think I have to lay that one down

The problem I have is that most of the hands that I can see him playing like that should have raised PF. I don't think he has AK, AQ, KQ. Unfortunately, he could have some trash like Q7. Any normal limping hands would have been drawing to a gutshot.

So no clue... though 2.5-1 odds on the call may make me try it anyway.

That turn bet is pretty big vs 1 player. Maybe try to make it smaller and then bet like .5 if this ugly card falls. You won't have to worry about being bluffed and can fold to any raise. Of course if the falls you're sitll value betting that river :-p

Well, I folded. He didn't show but said he flopped the straight, though I figure he would have raised the flop if he had.

I put him on a draw and figured that anyone holding a Q or A would stick around on that flop. My big turn bet was both for value and to ensure that anyone who tried to suck out would have to pay to see the river. The only cards that would have slowed me down would have been the 9/Q/A and when it hit I figured I was beat so just checked 5th.

Of course it's very possible this guy was playing a weak ace(especially at these limits) and took advantage of my weakness on the river to make a play.

Any problems with my logic here?

I call, Im thinking my 3-1 odds here are good enough to make calling a +EV move, IMHO. Problem is, IF he had a Q, then he was seriously screwing up this hand, but your check opens the door for a bluff, and its just big enough (plus the psychological value an allin bet carries) to probably be +EV as a Bluff, maybe not though....

I call, I'm guessing im only 2-1 behind.....

you cant call here. i dno why this is even being discussed. this is pretty standard that he has a Q

bonch why would he bet less on the turn? his hand is good here most of the time and they are drawing to the straight or only have a king here.

Problem is, IF he had a Q, then he was seriously screwing up this hand, but your check opens the door for a bluff, and its just big enough (plus the psychological value an allin bet carries) to probably be +EV as a Bluff, maybe not though....
????????? marm how could you call here? he played the hand exactly like a queen did. if he had a queen he played the hand fine. i dno what you are talking about, but you cant call here. this is 05/10 they arent going to bluff at the river without the queen

JN you played the hand perfectly. good bets good though process and a good fold on the river. they do play weak aces, but they dont bluff for their whole stack on a scary board like that.

only thing you could have done different was bet $1 on the river and fold to a raise, but you played the hand fine
it's better to be pissed off than pissed on
