I just started playing Stud/8 tonight... I got bored of my usual limit hold'em and O8, and wanted to try a new game. So I start out playing the 4/8 cent tables on PS... and discover that they are RIDICULOUSLY soft. Loose calls everywhere... I had never seen such terrible play in my life. I don't even know stud, and even I know that I've never seen worse fish in my life. I sat down at two tables with a buck each, and walked away in half an hour with $4.63 and $2.57. I whipped out a calculator and found out I was making 155BB per 100 hands. Either I'm a natural or I'm just amazingly lucky.
Anyway, ranting about my amazing Stud/8 experience aside, I did lose one pot, and it was because of a terrible laydown that I'm really kicking myself for.

Basically my thinking here is that I've earned these guys' respect at this point by beating them in pot after pot... I can run them over. Two hearts, an AQ for high and an A6 for low... it's a weak hand, but it has possibilities. I'll raise so that I can keep betting if I hit something on fourth.

I like hands like this... three suited low cards are always solid. Keep raising perhaps?

My low and my flush have gone to hell, but now I've got queens, and with two opponents looking like they're aiming low, I'd love to take half of a big pot with a strong high hand.

There's a chance this guy randomly made a straight, so I slow down a bit.

All my draws missed and I have just queens... plus an overcall to make. I definitely don't think both of these clowns have my pair beat, but with both of them in there, and one showing fives and an ace, the other one representing a possible straight, it looks grim for me. I'll save my eight cents.

pro1037 collected $0.93 from pot
bigfert collected $0.93 from pot
Okay, so they were both going low. Now I feel like a moron... of course I should have invested eight cents to win 93. This was clearly a terrible laydown on the river, but how about the rest of the hand? Did I do anything else terribly wrong?
Please, treat me like the Stud/8 newbie that I am. Ridicule me like the ignorant fish that I am, 155BB winrates aside.
And by the way, does anyone know of a hand coverter for Stud? Typing this hand was a bitch.

they dont give a shit about respect. its either they have something or they dont
fold 3rd dont raise!
why are you raising on 4th with a high no draw?
why are you 3 betting with just QQ on 5th????
finally on 6th you shut down with just queens...
on 7th you fold for .08 to win $2 rofl

Not six handed... everyone loosens up at a short table, and I wanna build a pot in case my hand improves.

AQ65 with a fairly live heart possibility at a short-handed table is playable... consider the circumstances here.

What does +EV mean?

An expected value greater than zero. A lot of people missuse it though.

I agree with JKoff, this hand is a fold on 3rd.
You will gain even more RESPECT when they see that you fold an exposed Ace.
You fell nito the classic trap of "my opponents play shit so I can play piss". You beat them by playing better starters than them. Just because they play shit does not mean they will always have shit, bad players get good hands to.
You're draws are too longshot for me, if I'm playing in a loose stud 8 game I won't play any hand without
3 to a 6
3 to a 7 with an ace
3 lows to a straight
3 to an 8 with 3 suited

I play AA/KK/QQ regardless of low potential. Tons of players at this level chase with nothing but a low draw, and when it misses, a big pair scoops.
