Default 7Stud and Stud/Split games Double bet on river?

    50c ante $3 Bringin 5/10 20 on river

I played this game live, it was dealers choice, but you could only play StudHi Stud8 or Chicago. How does the lowish ante and double bet on the river affect strategy? I'd just like to spark up some conversation about this.

The ante isnt that small, but it should reduce the number of hands you see a bit due to the decreased odds you will be getting on the first betting round. How much, I dunno, but thats the math.

Same with the river, worse odds

Better odds on 6th, assuming you're opponent will call a river bet.

the Ante is normal for 5/10, but considering the double bet on the end it is small.

The bring in is whats high $3. this should greatly affect the # of hands you play since every cheap 4th street you decide to see costs you $3 not $2.

I've been considering the double bet for a while now and come to this conclusion

The extra bet on the end should affect your draws IF you decide to see 4th, I don't think it should affect your starting hand requirements.

It would also affect my betting on 6th if I had say a full house, I would be more inclined to check and hope someone makes their hand so they bet and I can raise on the more costly 7th street

Ok, I was under the impression that the ante was low... But that didnt seem right:

How does this affect your choices in the split games? Namely Stud8 and Chicago.

well it should really help a good player in stud 8 and really hurt a bad player. I say this because bad players call on the end with any low or a high hand hoing it hold up, good players don't. The extra bet shouldn't affect your play here until the end when you get more value from bad players on your river bets.

In chicago it also shouldn't change much. I've posted the hands i play in this game and the double bet on the end wouldn't change this.
