Hi. I'm new to the community, but wish to learn here.
When not in the best position at the table, what is the worst hole cards most of you guys will play? I will go as low as TT, at a 2/4 table. Too loose?
Feelings? Concerns?

In first postion or 2nd position I play
Pairs - TT-AA, sometimes 99 and 88 if the table is fairly loose and sometimes JJ-AA if it is tight.
Non-pairs - I play AK, AQs, AJs. adding ATs, KQs at looser tables. I don't think I've ever mucked AJs with noone in the pot ahead of me so for tighter tables it is the same.

K, I might be too loose. So, will you just call or raise if 1st bettor?

Always raise if I'm first in. except in a loose game then I will limp with 88, 99 and all the suited cards, and occasionally with KK or AA but I will re-raise if somoene raises behind me. I always raise JJ, QQ, and AK

TT??? OMG thats tight, but as steve said (or shoudl have) it depends on the rest of the table, and what they are going to do, UTG, I can easily limp with 22, or as weak as Q9s if I know the rest of the table is coming too. If the tables very tight, but very weak, I will easily raise it with QJs, but If I got an average table, with a couple good players left to act, then in EP, I'm usually sticking with good hands to play.
Your cards don't matter as much as the rest of the table....Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.

Yes, the avatar is horrible, theres a freak on PS that I run into occasionaly (actually there 3 or 4 of them, cause I keep having to block their pic) that have that pic, I hate it too... Its effective for the game, but (sorry, no offense) its annoying as hell here...
all good intentions with that statment....

If the table is loose passive I'll limp with any hand that plays well in multiway nonraised pots : any pair, A-little suited (only for flush potential really), suited connectors. If there is more than a 10% chance it will be raised I tighten up considerable. As was already said, the table characteristics are pretty critical in the decision making process. Two big cards like AJ etc I'll raise first in, the others I limp.
Somebody mentioned Q9s, I NEVER play big / little (little being 9 or less) suited at any position unless it is A-little suited. I don't even play this on the button! I hate drawing to the non-nut flush with these hands. Even with suited connectors I'd much rather make the straight than the flush. I sometimes but rarely make an exception for k9 suited. Maybe I'm too tight?

Are we talking about limit here? In no limit this is my general guide lines:
Tight:
Raise: AK, AQs, As-10s
Call: AQo-AJo, 9s-2s, 10Js and higher consecutive SC
Normal:
Raise: AK-AQ, As-8s
Call: AQs-AJ, KQs-KJ, QJ, J10, 2s-7s, 78 and higher consecutive SC
Loose(basically rebuys only):
Raise: AK-AJs, As-8s
Call: AJ-A10s, 2s-7s, 45 and higher consecutive SC and 56 and higher non-suited connecter(I like str8s a lot better than non-nut flushes cuz you are more likely to have the best straight than the best flush and they are more deceptive)
NOTE: On a full NL cash table, I stay on the tight side and most tournaments I tend to stay between normal and Tight.Last edited by itsMrHankey2u; 08-02-2005 at 08:10 AM.
