Marm has a good point you beggin urxwife to catch up. And if that A or J hits then what do you do? You have to be making a minimum of pot sized bets there.

Still being relatively new to this site I am not sure if Etomic is just being funny,or if this is how he thinks you should play. Those min bets are just disastrous. If this is how he plays, I would love to invite him to my games.

    Lets look at this closer...............

Marginal hand.......min bets.....gives opponent the right odds to hang around.....suckout likely...no brainer this is the wrong play.

But what if he was holding the nuts? Is this right then? I say no. Sure you would want to slow play, but a utilizing a probe type bet of about 1/3 the pot will get more chips in play and probably keep this guy around at least through the turn if he has anything at all. Playing even the nuts this way would cost you more money over time than you would win with min bets.

Believe me, I hate betting when i have the nuts only to see everyone fold, but I always keep in mind that i will make more money with that technique over time than by min-betting.....of course the other variation is the check-raise or check call........I use them also to mix things up, but i have found that style one seems to avg more money for me. If i am going to check, I lean to check call because the check raise will usually chase the guy. Check call on flop, check again on turn........if opponent checks turn also, then i am leading out on river with a bet that gives just enough odds to make a call mandatory.

Thats just me, I have never played poker before, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

oh no it was completely made to be funny. it started becaues of the minimum limit like raises preflop. it was all a joke. thats no where near how i play or i think anyone should play.

    Antneye...

Why are you trying so hard to analyze this hand... when the point you're making is already so painfully obvious?

Because I was bored and wanted to hear myself speak.

    Wasn't that painfully obvious?
