i was in a 1 table SNG on pkstars last night. i get dealt 10 10 in the BB. blinds are 30/60. everyone is pretty equal in chip stack. i raise it to 200 and get 2 callers. the flop is 27Jr. it gets checked around to me and i bet 300. i get 1 caller. turn card is an A. i bet out to 500. called. river is blank. i bet 500, and he raises to 6. i call and he flips over A2 off suit. that knocked me down to almost nothing. i think that i played this right. i don't know how he called the raise pf with an A2 off. my friend seems to think that i should have let this go after the A came on the turn. what do you guys think?

What would you do??

Once someone calls the 300 raise, he prolly has you beat, why on earth would you keep betting when there is 2 over cards and there is a player calling all your bets.

Flop bet was too small for a SnG I think, 600 in the pot, need to hit it for 400-500 if you are going to bet.

He made a pretty poor play there, but so did you.
Even if you did bet after the A flopped, he was showing he wasn't scared of it. Don't be afraid to check sometimes if they call your first bet when you don't have at least top pair... you're probably beat by top pair weak kicker almost all of the time with that series of play, and they will rarely lay it down after calling once.

This is where I trip up very often. I make the strong continuation bet after the flop. I like to bet 1/2 the pot if I have missed the flop, and about 1/2-3/4 if i have hit it but want to take it down right now for fear of a draw getting a cheap look. When i am called on the missed flop scenario (which i would consider this example since theres an overcard to my 10's), then I am unsure of my turn play. I often like to make one more 1/2 pot bet (this is getting expensive) just to be sure he isn't on a draw but was just dumb enough to call my initial bet. A lot of times this second firing at the pot causes them to fold......often times they call me again and i know i am beat. In that scenario i try to check/call the river because typically I have the right odds to call any bet on the river. I have had mixed results with this style.............
What r your thoughts on the turn bet after being called on the flop?

one more thing...............in this instance, the Ace would have scared me from making a turn bet. he may have called my flop bet by mistake, but its probably because he held an ace and was hoping to hit it.

generally if my flop bet gets called, i will bet again on the turn unless an overcard hits the board that didn't help me. i hate checking in this situation because it gives the other person a chance to steal the pot from you.

If I am beat by just about anything the guy is holding and I'm out of position, then I'm going to LET him have the pot if he calls my continuation bet.
What do you want your bet to accomplish? That's always a good question... trying to scare out the gutshot draw is always good... but he needs CRAZY pot odds to draw to a gutshot, or at least crazy implied odds. A far smaller bet then 500 would accomplish that... and do you really think he's on that draw after he called down 3-1 odds on the flop? If he knows nothing about the odds, then he may call anyway... but he's making a mistake that will make you money in the long run, even if he DOES suck out this time.
However, you don't have TPTK, or even top pair. When you bet the flop and he called he COULD have been on a draw... but he could also have been on JT, AJ, QJ, KJ, or another middle pair... or he could have fishy cards like j5o lol. I think that if they call your flop bet and you have middle pair, you HAVE to try and check it down, and let it go if they bet, especially when there isn't an obvious draw on the board.
