Some of the plays that you see people make in these small stakes SNGs are hilarious... as long as the occasional bad beats they hand out don't happen to you.
Here are two quick stories from a recent SNG in which I played. In the first hand, Player A limps in and Player B raises to 4x BB. Player A calls. From the flop through the turn, Player A just checks and calls the bets of Player B, until the river card comes and presents a board of K 6 7 8 9. At this point, for the first time, Player A leads out, moving all in.
So now Player B just sits there, thinking, thinking, thinking, until he folds. Then after the hand is over, he types, "??straight??" ROFLMAO. I type back, "ya think?," but of course, he doesn't reply.
About two hands later, Player B is in another hand which he raises before the flop. This time, Player C calls. They both check the flop, until the turn presents this board: 4 8 T K. After the king hits, Player B moves all in, and Player C immediately calls.
Player B then reveals his AK, for TPTK, and Player C shows 56o, for a gutshot with one card to come. The river card is, of course, a brick, and Player C busts out.
After the hand is over, one of the other players at the table types, "wtf?" Player C responds, "i had an inside straight draw." So I write, "oh, I get it, you had 4 outs."
Undaunted, Player C writes back,"I didn't think he had it." Me: "So you thought he couldn't beat your 6 high?" Long pause.... "I guess I didn't think about it that way"!
