JTs = All-in

Very interesting hand.
I'm with him on firing first at it for preference.
Would take a lot of confidence in the "long run" being a factor to call for that money

Gus was in the money and raised preflop, and pushed on the flop, he didnt call.
Flop was
or
not sure of the exact suit of the 5 or 8.
He had a pair and a flush draw - which is 50/50 against a higher pair. Mattias called, the next guy went all in with KJ for two pair - at which point Gus says - I don't know what I want now - or something to that affect.
Mattias had
for the flush/royal draw.
In this hand, Paul said he had 13k with average being 10k at that point, and would have 10k if he folded. So he was still an average stack.
I am surprised he thought the hand would be 50/50.Last edited by Beavis68; 06-29-2005 at 02:18 PM.

Yeah. I do remember him pushing now and giving a funny grin when Mattias called. I only remember seeing the hand once or twice. I think the flop was
as it's coming back to me. Andersson had
and the other guy had KT.
I don't think he expected a call. At worst, he's gotta think he gets one call from an AK or KQ. Maybe JJ, but obviously that wasn't in his head. This was a horrible spot and if Andersson doesn't have
, and Hansen is heads up with the KT, it's a memorable moment when the spade hits the river and the forum trolls go nuts.
He comments afterwards in a conversation near the mikes with Hellmuth that he could've folded, but was low on chips. In a field this big in Phillips and Hansen's situations, percentage of chips in play:quantity of player left decide how large the stack is, not the blinds.

I know the other guy had top two, I thought it was KJ, but it could have been KT. All works out the same.
That hand made a big impact on me becasue:
1. I love a pair and a flush draw.
2. I loved watching Gus squirm.

People say that I wince and make funny faces when I play. I tend to sqirm around a lot, too because I'm so short that I have to sit on my leg and I'm constantly alternating legs and moving the other to and from my chair. I've heard Anikan Duke for that one, too. I'm 22. I'm an easy target.

There was an article in Cardplayer a while back about the "strength" of JTs. The gist of the article is that those starting cards are rarely a big underdog. The article, and the related statistics, can be found at this link:
