How tough can the higher limits be? Like going from $1/2 to $5/10? There must be a point where you just need a larger bankroll and you can still play your game.
Thanks

How hard are higher limit tables?

thats a big step.... to answer your question, the higher limit games have fewer idiots (only the very rich idiots dare venture) so it's usually a tighter game with more solid-aggressive type players. the higher the limit the better the chance of you getting away with making plays at the pot, because people can get away from hands.

Thanks, sounds like a better game for me instead of the low limit games. I'm pulling my hair out the way they play. As for NL I'm staying away from that for a while.

you should read the book SSH to learn how to beat the lower limit games.
Money won is twice as sweet as money earned.

i wouldn't start at the "higher limit" games because they aren't as easy as just making a move at a pot and winning. People aren't great, but they aren't as stupid as a 1/2 player. The higher level players can read situations and put players on bluffs/high cards, etc and play back a little.

Before you move up in limits you should be beating lower limit games easily. If you are pulling your hair out at the way they play you should think twice. I want people to raise me all in on a flush draw because most of the time i`ll win... you wont get these opportunities at bigger limits and your edge will be less

I'm a regular 5/10 limit player but I played my way up thorugh the lower levels to get here.
I feel that 5/10 is finally the level where I can relax and play a better game without having to worry if my opponent is on some wicked draw. Most of the time I can clearly put players on the most likely hand and I'm right. At the lower levels this skill was lost, too many times other players were holding bizzaro cards that I never would have guessed.
I wouldn't say 5/10 is easier, it's just more technical. You can actually get players who limp in pre-flop to fold to a raise before the flop is dealt for example.
I've found at 10/20 the players generally to play back at you alot more. Much more re-raising going on."Ok, this is for the game. How you doin' over there? NOT TOO GOOD!"" -Bubble Boy
