$1500 guaranteed freeroll. top 6 pay and about 30 left. started with 1500 blinds start at 25/50 and go up every 20 mins. it was a bit of a crapshoot.
im seat 2. seat 1 is a big fish with a big stack who has been limping almost every hand and playing really bad. seat 8 is one of the actually good players. on a board of Jt87 he folded and showed AJ while other guy showed the straight. my repuatation has been tight. i havent played many hands or shown down a hand. im a live noob
SB is seat 8. seat 1 is UTG and im UTG+1. i have 1500 and AQo blinds are 75/150. table is 8 handed
UTG limps my plan?
here is how i played it...
UTG limped and i didnt really think about it too much and i had 1 purple chip that was 500 so i said raise and flipped it in. folded to seat 8 who said he put me in. he acted really strong and fast. then out of no where seat 1 called even faster.
i thought about it and folded. flop came Axx seat 8 bet 300 lol seat 1 pushed and seat 8 agonized and folded JJ (is what he said he had later) and seat 1 showed KK.
comments on how i should play it and how i played it? it was my first real tournament at a club and there wasnt much time to think and i didnt have my stack or the size of the pot in there for me lol i dno.
given the odds and the crapshoot style of the tournament i guess i shoulda called, but i was pretty sure i was beat by at least one. if it was AK i call there. i was going to call seat 8, but then seat 1 got in the way and i didnt really like AQ in that spot

Raise to half that preflop and avoid the problem? I probably fold while muttering under my breath.

GLD.
While you had Good odds to call (3.5-1), it only took KK or AK or AA to ruin those odds, and it was likely it was there.
Cant raise half that, it would be less than a full raise. For PF action, you might as well have pushed in though. You nly got 10, and as slow as these events go, This might have been the only hand you got all night....Luck is a Residue of Design.

Half of that(to 250) would be a 5bb raise? That's a decent sized raise. I don't get why you're tossing in 10bbs vs 1 limper.

u did everything right, what play were you questioning? You definitely have to fold there, regardless of the fact you wouldh have won
. I think it's easy to say, oh i should have done it i should have done it when you know you would have won. You made the right play, well done.

I'd call unless you were almost positive one of them had AA.
Even if one of them had KK or AK, I think you're still only a 3.5:1 dog. Even though that's not mathematically +EV, your tournament equity goes way up if you take a 20% chance to make 4500 vs leaving yourself with 1000.

typically in that spot, one person has a pocket pair, and one has AK.
I think you played it right.

I'd agree, most of the time, Beav, but not when I hold an Ace. In a wild game like this, I'm limping PF and pushing/calling all in on the flop with a pitiful stack like this or pushing PF.

I would probably have pushed PF, but he didnt. So I am not calling two allins.
