How to study Flop Texture?
-

Your best course of action is to deal out some flops and run through the best possible hands even out to like the top 20. Figure out what draws are possible and what hands are more likely. Just keep dealing hands and after a couple times through the deck you'll start to have a good understanding of it.
For instance, A flop of 9-T-J all spades is going to have a number of really strong hands/draws possible which makes it a "wet" board; A flop of Q-7-2 is going to have very few strong made hands (sets of Queens, Sevens, and Deuces) because hands like Q-7/Q-2/7-2 are unlikely holdings and their are no draws, so this would be a "dry" board. The "wetter" the board the more cautiously you should treadRead my musings on poker and life at PokerNewsBoy.com, and My Poker Blog

That is very good advise there from Steve, probably the easiest and quickest way to learn flop texture. The more experienced a poker player, the better he will understand flop texture.
if you have hit a monster on a dry flop, it is usually highly recommended to slow-play and trap your opponent.Last edited by G9OLT; July 25th, 2012 at 01:56 PM.
