ok i am new here so hello to all! Now to get down to the nitty gritty.. I was recently was playing in a tourney at a local casino and about 15-20 minutes into it i had only split one pot with![]()
. So when the small blind got to me(blinds were still 25/50) i just limped in with
![]()
. the BB checked this left me and the the BB as the only ones in the hand.
flop:![]()
![]()
![]()
i check as does the BB. the turn comes![]()
i bet a dollar. he calls
the river comes![]()
i ove all in and he quick calls me with![]()
![]()
the mistake i think i made here was not raising pre-fop with all of the folds in front of me. what do you guys think?

Hey, welcome!!!
I would have raise or fold preflop definately.
Plus, I would also have bet the flop. He would have raise giving you the info he had something.
And, most of all, certainely not go all in on the river with a paired board.
Better luck next time...

i definately would have raised after the flop. its always so hard when you flop a hand like that because you want to maximize your winnings, but you also dont want to give your opponent a chance to catch something...as he apparently did. kj is right. a bet after the flop would have give you a better idea as to what he had.
on another note...HEY!

Muhahahahaaa. I have you dominated J10suited. You already got good advice on this, but put me in the group that thinks you should bet after the flop. When he calls (or maybe even raises you) you'll know he has a hand unless he's a known calling station. It will help your plays on the turn & river.

Bet this flop, fold to any sizable reraises. Your hand is to weak to let any more cards come, but too strong for the same reason. Flush out the draws, and bet for info here... see where you stand, pretty sure the two pair woulda popped you there and you could have released for a minimal amount invested.
EDIT: Ah screw that, you posted A9 as the previous hand. You still need to bet this out. I like a PF limp, (see Limp and Go), but you need to close the door, since hands like 89 and JT are common limpers. Bust it out and if you get raised, push it in, T7 is a pretty weird hadn to play.
EDIT: #2, ok rereading this again, defiantly raise this PF, move to steal.Last edited by Marm; 06-15-2005 at 12:37 PM.

hahaha! you're definately right Q10sooted, youve got me dominated going in but ive won some pretty big pots with my fav hand.
thanks for the advice guys!
but i heard one of you guys say that i should of bet on the flop and if im re-reaised to fold. hmmm.. i probably wouldnt fold but rather push it all in.
think about it with 6 8 9 on the flop, i have the best possible hand with also a flush draw.
the best i put the guy on is trips, turns out hes got two pair and the chance of that 9 coming out with two cards to go is minimal.
i do agree with you guys tho that i should have bet on the flop if anything else just to see where i was at.
thanks for the advice!

is it too late to change my name to 83suited? ive won 2 tournaments with it...
anyways... you flopped a monster on the flop, toss out a feeler bet, if he cant call, theres no way ur slowplaying him for any money anyways, and since BB checked the option, its reasonable to assume he had 2 random cards 2-ten, so it could very wel have paired him, or in this case paired him twice
