Hi Guys,
I'm new to this forum,
I've been playing poker for about 2 years, and playing a lot live lately at Crown Casino in Melbourne. I'm as serious about poker as I've ever been (tracking each session, following bankroll management strategies)
I am a regular player at the $1/2 no limit hold'em games and am finding that I am going on heaters and then long losing streaks. If you look at my graph, it is like a massive roller-coaster (up, down, up, down).
I started with $500 and my bankroll currently stands at $2.2k so I am confident I can frequently profit in the game. I have copped a few sick beats recently which have caused me to lose buyins ($120 max for $1/2 games)
I just don't understand why I play well and win and then always seem to go on these losing streaks of like $800+
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's part of the game, bud. Everyone will experience high amounts of variance for as long as they continue to play the game. Just stick to what you do, and never stop trying to get better. BUT, regardless of how good you get, poker will always have a lot of luck involved.

When I went on my first really sick downswing (which followed my going from suck -> to better / run goot which created a huge mind f**k), my coach suggested that I look at other good players' graphs on SharkScope.
It might not make you feel better about your downswings, but it'll put things into perspective. I realize you play cash, so maybe you can find some cash players graphs to compare to. Either way, you'll notice ups/downs.

Me too, i find myself having massive drops, but then win a lot too, sometimes it's not about the skills, but about luck aswell.

I don't play live but FYI, assuming you buy in for $200, 4 buy in downswing is far from "huge".
