Just wanted to know what everyone's opinion on this is. As it stands I like to raise re raise aces pre strongly and don't mind if people put me on that as a hand it works for and tends to generate good value.
However I sometimes wonder and will be testing this out as to whether pushing it all in pre might get more QQ JJ calls, this was based on a discussion I was having at a table when a player complained about a 'bad beat'.
Their reasoning was that someone shoved on them and they called with JJ guy hits his card takes pot abuse from JJ player.
I intervened to say hey its not exactly a lock hand JJ and he said yes but I know he has a hand like AK as why would he open shove else. And from watching plays and hands I notice that really big pre raises and shoves etc are often ak re-raises to all in often are too and that they often get action from 10s and JavaScript etc. Truth is AK is usually desperate to fold hands pre-flop.
I also think more and more opponent nowadays are capable of recognising AA by its standard betting patterns and folding Qs J etc
Having thought this I started to wonder if the seemingly appaling play of shoving AA pre is so bad after all and does it offer some disguise. I'm talking about doing this occassionally to mix things up not as a standard play.
