I play in a regular 6-7 man poker game with some friends. We keep stats & over the years 1 player has won more than anyone else by a fair margin.
We always sit in the same seating positions around the table.
Question: Is there any disadvantage to being seated to the RIGHT of this "best player" week after week?
Would appreciate comments, articles on the subject. Thanks.

Seating position question?

Yeah, there's a huge disadvantage, most of the time he'll have position after you. Nearly every hand you two play together you act before him, and he gets to react to everything you do.
It might not even be he's the "best player". Typically you want loose players on your right (control the pot size better), tight/nitty players to your left (relentlessly steal their blinds), and good or crazy players across the table (where you don't have to do with them as much). So it could just be the situation is very favorable to him and that's why he wins.
I would never accept the same seating every time, even if it is among friends and I don't care about the money, some variety is still nice.

You should number all the seats, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7, on little pieces of paper and graw from a hat. Keep the sitting more random.
