I've almost come to the conclusion that if a hand is fifty/fifty it's better to lay it down 100 percent of the time. The loss is not worth the gain. I've pretty much played the odds today and gave away $80.00. What say you?

depends on the situation. If your opponent has $100 dollars and you have $2000 then you would get him all in on a 50-50...if you are equal you would fold...

If it is truly a 50/50 situation, and the pot is offering anything greatr than 1-1, you are losing money by throwing it away. Usually pots are offering about 2-1 in the scenarios I can think Of (and much greater and worse in others) so these are easy plays to make. TOurnies though........

Big difference between pushing in to put the other guy to the test and calling an allin. I seldom call if I think it's a 50/50, but the equity of the other guy folding often makes it worth doing as the aggressor.

Isn't this the type of situation where you want to be aware of your opponent's style of play? Against someone who seems to fold easily, being aggressive seems likely to work out more often than not. You win every time the opponent folds plus half of the rest.

like marm said, it is all about overlay from the pot.
The pot is laying you 1.5:1, a 50/50 is a good bet.
Also, remember most 50/50s arent really.

If you are offered exaclty 1-1 odds on an exactly 50-50 shot, then the loss is exactly equal to the gain. You will never be faced with a situation (due ot the presence of blinds) where you will get less than 1-1 pot odds. so anytime you you are a 50/50 shot, it is +EV to call it.
