Default Playing styles? 6 Max Limit Hold Em

    Hello all

I've not posted in a long while (holds hand up and admits to playing another online game) but I've been back at the poker table, through a bad run, and back out of the other side.

Before I start, I am talking about 6 Max Limit Hold Em, which I play pretty much exclusively. At most sites I venture no further than 5/10, at Pacific I am brave enough for the odd session of 10/20.

I've been doing my playing at Pacific, and its no secret from time to time some of the softest games can be found here. That being said, I have been finding it difficult to 'outplay' people because players can be so poor, its hard to get them to fold.

So, I wandering if anyone here has had the same experince? I have found that playing at Ultimate there is more oppertunity to put in a few raises, often against late bettors and get the fold you are looking for. Of course this tactic cannot be over used, but, it can be done.

Does anyone here have distinctly different playing style between sites? Wanna share what those style are?

You need to be able to play the player, you don't bluff calling stations, you bluff rocks.

    You value bet calling stations.

It is hard to fight the aggressvie urge, but mindless aggression is being a maniac, maybe a maniac with good starting hands, but still a maniac.

    Good advice indeed, but....

Do you play much 6 Max?

I find in general that players either lose their money quickly, or that they dart from table to table, and so its hard to build up a profile of the players, because you just dont see enough hands.

I was wondering if anyone had a generic game that they applied at certain sites....??

For example, I can certainly make more raises at Ultiamte to force folds than I can at pacific.

I have developed a playing style at Pacific that is paying off at the moment (6 Max) but its pretty broad allowing me to sit at the first available table, and play against anyone.

Applied elsewhere, I find the myself explioted by those clever enough to spot my betting patterns, which leaves me preying on only the weak. I am sure a good player would kick my ass, being able ot raise me out of the game, or by being to slow play me into oblivion.....

Pick up David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth's Hold 'em Poker for Advanced Players. There's a great section on shorthanded play. I could go on forever, but they put it best IMO. I frequently review thmany portions of that book, but the shorthanded section is the one that i review the most.
