Not sure if I missed a bet here or not. Only read is both are LP. I had only shown down good hands to this point...so my thinking is that if I bet on 4th street they will most likely fold.
Am I way off here? Should I be able to count on them both seeing 5 cards, with the possiblilty of a call or two on the river?

Keep firing on the turn.
I would be a little more apt to just call on the river looking for an overcall by the BB. Plus, the SB could have hit a staight on the river.

k...thanks for the feedback. Immediatly after the hand, my thinking was I should have bet the turn. I just wasn't sure if it was results-oriented or not. SB had A8o

In that case, you probably got more money in the pot with a check on the turn.

Am I the only one who raises preflop?
Oh, and easy bet on the turn...

You gave infinite odds on the turn for people to hit their straight or flush draws on the river. If this was Q72 all rainbow suits then you can check the turn to try to keep people in. But you can't give a free card like that with the best hand. The 8 actually completed a straight for anyone with 10J, and a spade could have been a disaster. Any of 9 spades if somebody has a two flush and 8 straight cards could appear, two of which are spades, so there are 15 cards that complete a viable draw here that could come on the river. Not to mention if the the 9 or 4 pairs. These people are calling your bet with something........well at least usually.....
Also, you open bet the flop and everyone just called so you represented a Q that presumably no one else has. It is suspicious that you didn't bet the turn regardless of what cards you have! Alot of good players would notice this and not bet the river into you unless they hit their draw. You were lucky that the SB essentially bluffed the river and then called your raise. He might have put you on a busted spade flush draw and then value bet with his 8s, I MIGHT have done that but I never would have called the raise if I was the SB.
I'm not trying to be harsh, but I just wanted to give you a little more detail about what essentially the posters before me were saying as to the exact reasoning here behind betting the turn.

np, I understand. I def made a mistake and got lucky. In my defense, I was pretty tired at the time and totally missed the possible straight. All I was thinking on that river raise was bluff/paired the 8. Doesn't excuse the mistake though.
Thanks again for the feedback everyone, the only thing I don't really agree with is raising pf (for which there's only been one advocate). I don't like that move here when there are still 7 people left to act in the hand. Maybe if they were suited, and definitely if I was 3-4 seats further along the table...anyone agree/disagree, there haven't really been any comments on the pf play.

I think to raise pf is maybe ok from a "mixing it up/changing gears" kinda thing, but not a standard play for me with this hand. If you are reraised you will be obligated to call for one bet and then it will be tough to play out of position no matter what the flop is unless you flop a straight or something monster. I would rather raise in early position with something like 67s if I'm trying to "mix it up" a little so at least I know where I am on the flop if I am reraised preflop. I thnk whether raising pf is a good play with KQo is extremely dependent on the character of the table.

I raise KQo simply for TPGK potential. Most of the time, there are just a few coldcallers and even if reraised it could be a hand like 99 TT JJ AQ AK where a pair may be good.
