Default Was this a good move?

Hi all, just played a live game with a MANIAC big stack he would often over bet pots and even re-raise pre-flop I don't think he was actively thinking about his table image, anyhow I did what I think is the best move against this kind of Too Loose/Too Aggressive player and took my premium or next to premium hands and shoved for example I raised UTG with QAo all in thinking this guy will call with piratically anything even a bluff he turns over 59o I hit a A on the flop and a Q on the river, I told a bloke not at my table what I did and he looked at me like I was stupid and that 59o was a good call, I was like how the chuff is 59o a good call faced by a all in shove with QAo. Can someone tell me how a QAo is a bad shove v's a player who has a raising range was slowly becoming any 2 cards? Is the other player right was QAo a lucky/bad shove against a MANIAC who was raising and betting with almost anything?

This is my first post on the site, I joined today. I play at foxwoods in CT. I'm having trouble understanding this. Were you participating ina ring cash game, sng, or mtt. Also who was under the gun were you. If so what was this players position. Seems like you did not take in consideration the other players at the table. You need to figure tens or better will call your all in. If AQ doesn't hit there goes your stack. Also if it was a tournament and he has a huge stack and its just him to act then I'm sure he figures he's live with those terrible cards. Especially if your table image is playing non garbage. Honestly that would be a 60 40 coinflip. Yes your ahead with those two overs but if he pairs the flop you need to catch up. In a cash game that's a terrible call by him. Ina tournament with a big stack its not super terrible but definatly could have let it go. Who won the hand?

In a cash game I would never advise to push with two overs, especially in early postion before the flop. Essentially you are risking your whole stack on less than a coin flip. Say you are playing 1/2NL: With AQ you can call the blind in early position, or call a small raise in mid to late postion, say, 7 bucks total, if you think that is too conservative then you might need to reconsider your strategy, because the only way to win consistently at 1/2 is if you play conservatively. Most players at the 1/2 tables are novice players, and if you are betting too much on top pair or trying to bluff a new player, you will probably get called down.

I would not push in that spot as there are a ton of outs for the other player.

Never push that. The odds aren't really on your side. Wait for a better hand instead.
