bet
bet half the pot..
you may well be up against JT and AQ, KQ.. if someone's played and stuck with A7... he''ll let you know about it...........
watch out for K and 8...
I don't know how passive these guys are.. a trip is also possible... don't get too excited at the river...See me playing $10/$20NL like it was play money

Bob, what do you think of the flop raise? Seems too small, seems like he should have raised to 6-8 bucks.

I don't mind the flop raise heads up or against 2 people here and there are no real draws here. It's really a test raise to induce a tell of how strong the Aces are. I think a bet of $6 is fine on the turn. I don't see a 7 in the hole over there. KQ or Jacks seem most realisitc. This is your best way to maximize. I might've raised the flop to $5 and bet $8 on the turn, but I doubt he's calling more with Jacks or Tens. You want him to have a Queen and this is a good turn for you if he has KQ or Jacks.

Yea make it $7 to go. That makes it $5 more for the better. You'll gain a lot of information this way. The turn raise is probably good too. Again just too small. He can easily be aq/kq/jj/tt here.

it appears i have a lot to learn about cash games. I am an above average SNG and MTT player, but my skills simply do not transfer across to cash games. I didn`t put my opponent on 7`s at all, i thought the raise pre flop and post flop would have gotten rid of someone with a hand like that, however, 77 was a possibility....perhaps a larger post flop raise would have gotten rid of mr bottom pair, but then i didn`t want to scare him off as the flop was pretty nice for AA. oh wellLast edited by poker_roo; 05-29-2005 at 04:44 PM.

If he's dumb enough to call a raise from early you'll not get him to put down K7 with a few extra BB.
There is merit in adjusting your preflop bet to the smaller stacks in order to fire off a preflop all-in and defend against the small pair trip. In this instance this startggy would have given you the blinds which considering what everyone else held is all AA is worth this time.
By the time you saw the flop you're going to lose this hand. OK he had K7 at the end but an all-in at the flop would simply have won the blinds or caught a trip. In his mind he had a good shot at at least top two pair.
In ring games 60% of the battle is minimising losses. A heavy bet on the flop then turn would show that he had significant strength to tell you that top pair was not enough tho win.
OK this would have only saved you $8 or $9 but when you are looking at a win rate of 8bb/100 = $4/100 that all-in cost you 200 hands of profit - assuming your a winning player.
In many tournaments an over pair all-in is enough to generally catch TPGK. In ring..this sort of play wins you little but loses you a lot.See me playing $10/$20NL like it was play money
