About 90% of the games i play are with a group of friends who play together at least once a week. Great games, great friends, great times but the house rules have been getting at me lately. The way they do their blinds is by starting at 10/20 and then doubling every 15. Until it gets to 4 players then it is every 10. The problem that i have is that by the time it gets late in the game the exponential blind increases have gotten out of control. When it gets to heads up time it is a crapshoot as the blinds are so large that it is basically an all in moment every hand. It really seems to take the small table poker strategy out of the game. I would like to know how others operate their blinds late in games, do you cap them, increase by the thousand instead of doubling, etc. Also those of you who play small casino tourney's could you tell me how they do it. I would like to model our friendly games after casino tournaments as i feel i am about ready to start taking on small sit and go tourneys. Thanx for the help.

Home Poker Tourney - Quick start on how to host a No-limit Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament
This structure works for my games. We usually run 15 min levels for the whole thing.

I strongly recommend 20 minute levels, then 30 once it gets to 200-400 blinds
